DownUnderToff got a reaction from Palfy in Moise Kean
Dunc turned to him early and he put in a shift. The crowd got behind him and he didn't seem to have any ill feeling towards Dunc.

DownUnderToff got a reaction from Shukes in Dominic Calvert-Lewin
If DCL had any sort of natural finishing ability, he'd easily be a top 5 forward.
However, if he had any natural finishing ability, then he likely wouldn't have the off ball talent/work ethic he has (and still be playing for Everton).
We can only hope that he keeps developing the goal scoring ability and becomes the Gem we need, since his trajectory has undeniably been up.

DownUnderToff reacted to Palfy in Carlo Ancelotti
Brands can still strengthen the team especially if it’s true he already has a manager lined up, there would be nothing that could stop communication between them behind the scenes.

Not sitting on the fence at all Palfy. And I’m not looking for an opportunity to say I was right or wrong, all I’m bothered about is what’s best for the club.
If you can tell me a manager who can take over I’ll tell you if I think it’s worth moving him on or not. I don’t want him to be sacked and then have a month of Unsworth. I also don’t want him sacked and see Hughes or Moyes come in. If we can’t get someone better it’s not worth sacking him, and for me that goes for any manger. It’s not a tough concept. The club speak to managers they think would be an upgrade, if they can get one of them sack him and upgrade. If they can’t, stick with what we’ve got.
We can’t sack him without someone else lined up and end up with an Unsworth/Allardyce saga. That doesn’t help anyone.

DownUnderToff reacted to London Blue in Tom Davies
I am a Davies fan and thought he played well, what I liked is his fast, accurate passing that always looked to get us going forward. He had one of the best records for both passes made and accuracy in the match. Much better than Morgan who takes an eternity to pass the ball, which usually involves a turn on the ball, a look around, then a pass back to a defender. His partnership with Gomes looks good with both taking turns getting forward while the other covered.
Definitely deserves a run in the side.

Might need to add Erik ten Hag to the list.

The 18-20yr old players that make it into a top half premier league team are pretty rare (or in an "unsexy" position).
Take a look at where the majority of our current starters were at 18 - 20. They were playing regularly, in lower leagues/teams.
Richarlison's are rare enough, but even he went via Fluminense and Watford. Mount and Tomori spent 2-3 years on loan. Sancho had to leave.
Regular, senior, competitive football is a critical part of their development. We're holding on to kids for too long in u18s & u23s. If we think they're potentially good enough but aren't willing to risk playing/developing them, then we need to be loaning them out.
Whether you think he's good enough or not, don't think anyone can argue that DCL hasn't improved since getting increased senior minutes.

Lads don’t make it because they aren’t good enough. But managers don’t get the chance either. We want instant results.
Ask yourself, if you were Silva now and you’re under pressure would you risk the kids when it could cost you your job?
When we don’t beat a team we boo them off, us fans are too impatient. Every time we have a prospect we expect them to be world class, we compare them to Rooney and when they aren’t that level we turn on them anyway.

Needed to take more of a risk today, should have hooked Schneiderlin for Davies.

DCL - but bring Kean on earlier. Time to start really laying the challenge down to DCL. Challenge him to find those dangerous spots or to make something happen, more than just a line leading workhorse.

Really? Thought he was clearly our best in the first 45.

Start of the season (injury permitting) would have to be
Bernard DCL Richarlison
Iwobi and Kean will need time to settle in, before trying to displace Bernard and DCL.

He'll certainly hold on to the ball better than Walcott

What's going to be better for Kenny’s development, sitting on the bench for us or playing regularly in Germany for a year?

DownUnderToff got a reaction from Matt in Mason Holgate
Sorry, poorly written. Assuming that we're buying a CB (as expressed by Marco), and getting an RB on Loan (pretty sure the club has said this as well?).
If we do that, Holgate would likely be 4th choice CB and 3rd choice RB. He needs to be playing, so a loan to a prem league team with Jags as a continuing mentor... No brainer for mine.
Think Gibson has shown enough to be the 4th CB cover this year.
