well that's the point - you can't just keep spending until you get it right these day. Clubs used to be able to do that to get to the top - Man City and Chelsea got away with it, I have little doubt if FFP rules where around when they both spend big, there would have be a decent change they would have ended up like we are now - hamstrung.
It is going to be very interesting to see what situation the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle are like in 3-4 seasons time. There are already 6 teams battling for top 4 places season on season - 8 does not go in to 4 and I don't see how teams like this revenues are going to allow them to compete financial with both the now global brands of the top six, plus there CL money. They are heading for a similar cliff to us as I don't see Villa or Newcastle having bona fida revenue streams any more greater than ours - they will get to a point when CL becomes a must to keep the moment going in transfer fees and wages.

Very disappointed. But if we've lost USM income, which was substantial, and we have FFP breathing down our necks, I think this is out of necessity than desire.

But he quotes some specific actions, with several backroom staff swapped out. To me, this counts. Also, his public support of Ukraine is a big deal given the size of his investments in Russia (such as Megafon). The single biggest thing I want to see is his trusting the staff he's now put in place. If Thelwell and Lampard want a player but Moshiri disagrees, will he have the guts this time around to trust them? This is my single biggest hope. Surely he must have learned his lesson of overriding objections to bringing in Benitez. What a calamity that was.

I think he’s said he wants plenty more money but with a bit of freedom to leave if a champions league club comes in for him. Or to leave this summer if one of them comes in.

Id really like to see him a sign a new contract either way. One more season then let him go if he wants.

Lampard been fined £30k for comments after the Liverpool game according to SSN.
I look forward to seeing fines for people like Gerrard etc, particularly after his comments about John Moss at the back end of the year.

I think this is far more realistic if we are not able to have any sort of net spend and want to try and build with youngsters. There are far more than 10 teams in the Premiership who are currently in a better shape than us squad and club structure organisation wise. We are at the beginning of a rebuild - and currently with one hand tied behind our back because of FFP.
There is a massive gulf between the top 6 or so who generate massive amounts of money and the rest of the league. However, between us and the other also ran's, because TV money is so dominant in the clubs finances now, the fact that we have 40,000 fans in our Stadium  it doesn't really make a massive difference these days - When it comes to average earning we are not significantly much better off than the likes of Palace or Wolves of this world.
In the current climate I still don't thing some fan realsie how much, now more than ever, was are simply just an also ran Premiership club who make up the numbers in the division.
With no real spending power, its going to take a hell of a lot of work and a good slice of luck to even be sniffing around the top 10.

    Another poor signing.
High fee. High wages. Long contract.
    Devoid of quality.
Hopefully the start of the cull in the squad

Best 5-1 defeat for us I've ever watched. Roll on next season.

    It was Real Madrid? 😂
Scared off? Bothered about FFP? Transfer funds? He could manage Everton or Real Madrid!! The only impossible job would have been choosing to stay at Everton. 😂

I'm usually quite vocal against mass change because it's so disruptive but we do need a minimum of 5

Couldnt agree more about his legs and balance. He was all over the place and the more we want him to play up the pitch, the worse he will look.

I don't know if it's been mentioned somewhere else and I've missed it in all the excitement, but this was victory number 1,878 in the top flight.

It's like watching the last two seasons of Phil Neville w/Coleman now... sorry but not sure I trust him anymore even as cover

Did anyone see the tackle Matt Lowton was sent off for against Villa tonight? Amazing the refereeing inconsistency... Ayew gets a yellow for hacking down Gordon while Lowton received a straight red for an honest attempt to win the ball, nowhere near as nasty.

I thought he was outstanding tonight. He won so many headers and flick ons that it's clear to me that he just hasn't been able to get fully fit until now. That was a Dom physically ready to go and give it all. It's never been about a lack of desire or effort, or distraction, just plain old fucking lack of fitness.

I've swerved all convo around DCL. Seen snippets on here and online and agree with none of it.
Always been a fan. Couldn't give a fuck what he wears, how long his hair is or anything like that.
He's had an unfortunate season and - not surprisingly - has been getting better and better with game time. Then he puts the cherry on top.
    Stronger with him than without.

Love the man for what he's given to the club, but really need Patterson to step up next season and keep Coleman as a bit part player
