People asking me, "Are you learning sign language?". It happens all the time.

Sign language is for deaf people, not those unable to speak; for sign language to be useful for me I'd need not just to know it myself, everybody else I interract with would need to be fluent as well. That's going to happen:rolleyes:.

People mean well but don't think stuff through.

If they are not able to speak they would have to use sign language, if you can't understand it maybe you should sit next to each other with pen and paper and write questions and answers. 👍

Bill it's only me that has no speech, if I ever came across a gang of us we'd get by, but sign language is not an option.

Pen and paper is my go to though.

"...at this time" added on to every single expression of condolence when someone dies as in, "We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at this time."

At what other time would you be expressing such regrets ("We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends next Thursday") ? The last three words are totally pointless, it's even worse when "difficult" is added. "We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time."

Way to state the bleeding obvious, I think people think if they use more words it makes them sound more righteous. Fuck off.

I knew I'd posted about this before, but it's in overdrive again today (in slightly different circumstances as the person being referred to is possibly not yet dead).

Quoting myself ranting saves me going on a new one.....for now.

Naughty 👿

They justify it by pointing out that some Epiphones actually have Gibson on the headstock (Gibson bought Epiphone out in 1957 and they're kind of their budget brand); as one of mine does, pictures below. But they don't have the Gibson logo on and they're made in China rather than the USA, although mine was made in Korea before they switched factories in around 2004. They make some very nice instruments, but they're not Gibsons. Here endeth the lesson!

OK so as reported in another thread needed a new bed, and it was delivered today, but no mattress (which I paid for, cost more than the bed).

So, much email activity but the company saying they'll talk to the courier:rolleyes:.

Then, because my bedroom isn't huge I decided to go for a "small double" (4ft wide) because it's just me (and frees up space for guitars👍).

But nobody sells small double bedding, was told in one shop today it was too specialist; all I want is a kip without an upturned saucepan holding my bed in place, am I asking too much?

My boiler appears to have died, was fine this morning but no heating or hot water now:(

Fortunately not as cold as it has been, and I have an oil filled radiator that'll keep one room warm plus immersion heater in the hot water tank so not the end of the world.

On the bright side I'll save on the gas bill:unsure:

Plumber came out this morning, heating works perfectly.

Plumber leaves, heating stops working again.

....and then, get back to plumber (lovely guy who I've known for more than a decade) and he's in hospital waiting for an anesthetist to put him out for an op, will be laid up for a week minimum; selfish git.

Though I suppose coming out in the morning pre-hospital admission is a pretty good service so inclined to let him off.

The company who were supplying and fitting my kitchen in Spain went into liquidation, luckily for me I wasn't left in to bad a position some clients lost thousands with nothing to show for it, I personally had an unfinished kitchen with some wrong appliances and a wall unit missing, I needed to have the kitchen finished, so a Spanish guy came out last Tuesday said he would finish the job then I heard nothing from him until today when he phoned to say he would be here at 4:00, two of them turned up at 4:30 and are still here now at 10:30.
I'm starting to get tired and irritable they could be here till 1:00am he wants to finish tonight. Fuck me am I being a miserable ungrateful cunt, or is there no reality left in the world we live in, to want to stay in someone's house fitting a kitchen on a Sunday to the early hours of Monday is definitely grinding my gears at the moment, fucking mental.

😂Life eh?

Having a new kitchen fitted at home in a couple of weeks so watch this space!

End result will be good but the upheaval I'm really not looking forward to; company reckon they can complete in two days, we'll see.

Contemplating part refitting kitchen, your stories aren't encouraging.

Happy memory....

First house my wife and I lived in the kitchen consisted of a sink hanging off the wall and nothing else. I'd never done any real DIY and had no power tools plus we were skint; built a kitchen from scratch using a hand drill. Work surface, cupboards all done using 2x1 timber frames and home made tongue and groove panels, so bloody satisfying.

Wife decorated the whole house; I sound like Monty Python saying how great things when we were poor but good times.

That's the spirit and adventure of youth shining through Mike, where life's for living and not a lot seems to unattainable, and it's a joy to take a task on you have no experience of. Now as we get older we can't be arsed even if we could, and are much happier to pay someone else and then most of the time moan that we could have done better.

Any how kitchen finished at 1:50am ✔️ Best of luck with your kitchen remodels lads.
