well, hands up who was completely wrong..... I think it was all of us. Team selection wasnt inspiring but it did the job. 1st half, rubbish, from both sides really but second we were brilliant at times. Shouldve been 5-6 really. Pienaar had a good second half, think he may get my MOTM.

mejump for joy.gif. Still a poor performance overall, I expect Everton to dominate teams like Swansea from the start not just the last half hour

I hate full times in general, it's always the same, there's always something that pisses me off, I try to avoid them if I can.

Yes, just confirmation that Wigan have beat the murderers, fucking lovely result!

We have beat Swans too, very good day for all Blues, maybe we can take this into the Sunderland replay and subsequent games. It has been a good afternoon more or less.

Anybody who truly believes we are unable to win this 6th round replay and the shite at a neutral venue after that should maybe reconsider from what I have ascertained from today.

There is real opportunity I feel in the next few weeks.

The shite have lost 5 of their last 6 and would be bottom 3 if the league was from the start of 2012. Moyes is the only man unable to beat them I wouldn't be so confident until he pulls his finger out and has a go.

Well, I thought we were brilliant today. And I mean from start to finish. I am actually flabbergasted that there are people who are unhappy with the game today, even just a part of the game. I thought other than a couple of hairy moments when Swansea were allowed to click we controlled the game and dominated it for large periods.

First half we weren't much cop going forward but we pressed all over the pitch and didn't let Swansea get into their stride at all. And that was no mean feat with the heat today, but they didn't let up, not for a second, and each and every one of our players should be commended for that. Even though our game plan was obviously just to stifle them, because they can really play, we still managed to cause them problems and looked dangerous ourselves.

By the second half we'd worn them down and we could play our own game. And play it we did. We could, and should, have won that game a lot more comfortably than we managed. They caused us very few problems and we were always looking like we could score. I never felt we were in any danger in the second half and that our only problem would be actually sticking the ball in the back of the net, but we managed it and could have won 4 or 5 nil in the end. The defence wasn't really tested and there were a couple of moments when they looked shaky but it didn't matter because the midfield did a superb job of shielding the defence, and the midfield did an even better job of providing support to Jelavic. We won the midfield battle and that's why we won the game.

Moyes had a plan and the players executed it perfectly, IMO, and I don't think a single player had a bad game. I was extremely impressed with how we played today, we looked the far better side in every respect. And I include passing in that.

Swansea have done well this season but we've taken 6 points off them. We've fully deserved our win today and thought they were one of the worst sides that have visited Goodison this season.

Howard - Didn't have much, if anything to do.

Hibbert - He didn't really have anything to do in any respect; attack or defence.

Jagielka - Made a couple of good blocks but looked a bit dodgy when trying to play offside. A marked improvement on his derby showing though.

Distin - Didn't have much to do but won a few headers.

Baines - Ran himself into the ground getting up and down the touchline. Linked up well with Pienaar and was always looking to put the ball in. His final delivery wasn't always the best but he found his magic touch for the free-kick. That was an absolute peach.

Osman - In the first half he was one of the main pressers. He was like a little buzzing fly that won't go away, he never gave the Swansea midfield a moments peace. In the second half he was one of the main reasons for our dominance I felt; he used the ball very intelligently.

Gibson - He wasn't a stand out player but he was so effective. He was responsible for a distinct lack of hoofing because he was always available for the ball from the defence, and I can't recall him giving the ball away, he was very ecomical with the ball.

Neville - I hate him playing in midfield but, while he also wasn't a standout player, he shielded the defence brilliantly today and I have nothing bad to say about his performance whatsoever.

Pienaar - Pressed excellently in the first half and I thought he was head and shoulders above the rest in the second half. His link-up play with Baines was just gorgeous at times, and he could have got a goal himself and at least 2 assists. My MOTM.

Cahill - He was also one of the main pressers in the first half but never really got going in the second half before being substituted. Injured?

Jelavic - He pressed well in the first half and while he wasn't one of the more impressive players for us he still got a goal (brilliant play by Fellaini for that btw) and really should have had another. I don't mind him being below par if he puts the ball in the back of the net.

pienaar has been AWFUL the last couple of games - just dreadful.

God we truely are SHITE, how long are we supposed to put up with this crap, Moyes sort it, or walk it imo.

The words Neville and Cross mean one of two things... a size 5 casey floats aimlessly over it's intended target - or the camera focusses on him whilst he tells a player off for not being one of the 9 men behind the ball

Uhh so sick of the "give it to baines" game plan. It's so boring to watch and its dreadful, no wonder we're averaging under a goal a game. There's never anyone who actually looks like trying to get a head to the ball.

Pienaar hasn't done anything right all game.

What a strike from Gibson! He's better when he's going forward then when he's sitting in front of the defence like he has in the first half.

Romey, not to shit on your parade, but rewatch the first have then re-evaluate, because that last 30 mins masked over the 1st hour were we played like last years Birmingham. Pienaar was shocking in the 1st half and in the second for every good he countered with a bad.

To admit Moyes is spot on for them lower team tactics, would mean for me to drop the standards I believe Everton are at and should play at.

Lower team tactics vs Swansea? I think they've proved they are top notch at home with wins vs arse and man.city and out playing most teams at the liberty. I agree with Romey credit where it's due... we wore them down, maybe stopped them playing their game then played a bit ourselves - football's a 90minute game. Sure I read they've got the 2nd best home defence in the prem and certainly one of the best records. Let's take this momentum we've all been harking on about into Sunderland now!

I was beginning to think I'd watched a completely different game!

Yes it was an important win, especially with some important fixtures looming large, but it did seem today we only really got going after the interval. It was similar to the Spurs game of recent in a way, a game of two halves almost, we played well for 45 minutes and with it got the all important result. I remember early in the game they were well ahead on possession and chances created and by the half time interval it really could have gone either way.

Still it's not enough to warrant a viewing of match of the day this night. You can see it now, we will be featured last and get a couple of minutes coverage while the boring 'Easter Island' esque fucking bores of the usual analysists ramble away with nauseating favoritisms. Yes we won today and the shite had another setback, most enjoyable, but still not watching.

How the Man City game is second is a joke, one highlight is Crouch's goal, possible goal of the year other than that it was a boring game with no highlights to even waste MOTD minutes on

Boring Games, Boring Program, Boring Channel, Boring Presenters etc, It's one main aspect of why I no longer watch. There is more life in a funeral parlor than that damn show. It is simply put, a narcoleptic's paradise. dry.png

Incidentally, while the presenters are only shown for about 10 per cent of the program duration (which is more than sufficient), and doing post match analysis, what on earth do they get up to, while the games are underway, I mean 90 per cent of the time they're surplus to requirement and I just wondered what they do with themselves while the games are underway, I'm not buying into the fact they just sit there in silence watching Norwich vs Blackburn or something, I'll bet they get up to something off screen.

How much coverage did the Swansea game get this night, was we on last, get more than two minutes featured etc, dry.png

Do you expect anything more from the bbc? Bolton on 1st because of Muamba which is fair enough the rest of the line up was the same old. There was no where enough in the City game to justify it not being last, it should have got the usual Everton treatment starting with Linekers 'In our penultimate game tonight' then our goals get shown plus every corner/chance the opposition had with then a mutter from two (completely unbias) kopites. Its a joke that the shows called Match of the Day

Think we need some balance in the assessment gents, I think we seen the good and bad of both teams. Where Swansea are weak, we are strong - we get men behind the ball, defend defend defend.

Where they are strong we are weak, fluent attacking football. It just so happens that for a period, we played some very nice stuff and Swansea were all over the place.

A game of footy is 90 minutes, for most part it was awful to watch, we were trying to contain them. Then it changed - fortunately.

They're a very decent defending team as well. They had only conceded 34 goals before the game, while we had 32. So it's definitely a positive that we created so easily against them in that second half and really should have had 4 goals. I think Romey said that a crucial part in winning today was the midfield battle and I fully agree. We play sort of opposite shapes in midfield: they play one holding player behind two creators and we play two holding players behind one attacking midfielder, so it's very easy to just form couples, and our players simply did a better job closing down and really just harrying them all over the pitch. We didn't threaten them at all in that first half, but once we got in front and they needed to play higher and higher up the pitch we just tore them apart.

This game just confuses me even more! Why did we press & hassle Swansea perfectly but give Liverpool all the time in the world to play?! As we have shown already this season, we can beat anyone when we play with that intensity, and whilst it cant be expected every game we should be able to do it a lot more than we are currently showing.

We just have to build on this now but its almost impossible to predict if we will.
