London Blue
City are in a fragile state, loosing at Villa was a big blow and after being "taken to school" by Bayern. If and its a big if, we can keep City out for 20 minutes or so then the pressure builds on them and their fan's and confidence might start to desert them. We have the game to hurt them with good possession football, pace in Mirallas, Lukaku, Baines and Coleman and midfielders like Gibson and McCarthy who can both defend and use the ball well. (how good is it to be able to say that). Plus that lad Barclay is playing quite well I believe If Yaya, Aguero, Navas etc are up to prove the world wrong then we are pretty much F"£$%d as they have the best squad in the league and some world class players. Avinalaff
Looking at the City forum they appear to be scared to death of this fixture. It wasn't long ago they were showing no respect and cocky, so times have changed a little, and either we've demanded respect through performance, or they're starting to humble. Sideliner
Without Barry I fear for our left flank - who is going to replace Barry ? we haven't got a DM with the same qualities - so if we want to win we will have to score a couple of goals because I don't see us keeping a clean sheet against City -
Blue 250
To be honest with the form Lukaku is in it will be hard for City to stop him scoring, can't see the big man and Barkley not creating something. Can we stop City scoring is the big question!
Vranny
I'm just hoping Gibbo is fit and raring to go. Otherwise I fear we'll be seeing something along the lines of a Osman-McCarthy centre midfield pairing
Dalziel Kane
May as well ask, why is this fixture a midday start, or even before that, at maybe 11-45 ? Not going to hang around for a response but had to put the question out. How many games start at the traditional 3-00 on a saturday now. Not many, it's a relic of the past. With Barry not eligible to play and Mirallas and Gibson uncertain to feature, we still have the capabilities to get something from this and recent records look to be in our favor, but it's all about what occurs on the day. Still maintain we can get a win from this, and why not. Buona Notte
GoodisonRoad
Mid day because it's on TV DK. I don't get why we're playing on a Saturday though when City played in the CL on wed. Thought if you played on wed it was mandatory to play on Sunday? Wouldn't be happy if I was a city fan but ah well, fuck em! Peter H
Strange feeling about this game. First thought was a draw. Man City have struggled against us in the past few seasons and we are looking good. Slightly nervous about getting hit by a bus in this game though. City will be looking to break their losing streak (if 2 games can be considered a streak) and im expecting them to come out with all guns blazing. If we contain their initial attacking for the first 20-30 minutes and start to attack we might sow a seed of doubt. If we come out with all of our guns blazing we could scare the crap out of them. If we can contain and counter we will subdue their attack. All of these 3 could get us 3 points. But we need a draw or a lead in the first 30 minutes. If they score first and early I can see them putting 4 past Howard. Romey 1878

Romey 1878
I can see us being overrun in central midfield today. McCarthy isn't exactly a big lad and we all know Osman is brushed over with a feather. So Toure could have a field day there.
London Blue
Is Gibson not match fit as I thought he was ok in the Fulham game,, although he did tire in the second half.
Peter H
RM might have gone for Osman as he is a more attacking option? Naismith on left?
London Blue
I'd rather have Gibson in the middle as he can tackle and is more defensive minded than Osman, plus better passer, and we are going to need to retain possession well in this match. Would like to have Gibson, McCarthy, Barklay, with Mirallas and Osman on the wings. But we have options on the bench and are playing well. 1 -

Peter H
Question to Martinez just now on telli. - How important is youth to Evertons start of the season? - Vital, the youth is vital to our game, we see Barkley, to some extent McCarthy at 22, Coleman and players like Stones coming up. Players that will play a very important role with their enthusiasm and arrogance at Everton for many years to come. (Paraphrasing) Swedish experts talking about Everton saying that they are one of the best teams in the world when they are on the ball. 3 most % time with ball in the prem. Long piece about Martinez aswell. About his playing days, him coming to Wigan in the 90's. His influence on the prem. How he is one of the people responsible for the spanish revolution. The revolution that has lead to swansea beating Valencia with 3-0. Btw Swansea had 6 spanish players in that game. Valencia had 4.
