Hafnia Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 This isn't a "lets slate Tim Howard" - thread. More of a case of we have a need for a new keeper. Howard has been great for us and yes, like Pienaar it seems his time is rapidly drawing to a close with the club. I will throw Ochoa and Keylor Navas in the mix - liked them at the world cup, great shot stoppers. Navas at Real Madrid but only played two games... surely he would want to be a number 1 keeper. Casillas is still only 33 - young for a keeper really. Quote
Lowensda Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Maksym Koval - Dynamo Kiev, mentioned a few times on here. Cristian Bonilla - Colombian youngster, looks a pure gold keeper and is definitely the milkman's son. Dream Keeps' - Scuffet @ Udinese. Will be the best goalkeeper in the world, along side Courtois. MC11 Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) Timo Horn would be the keeper we should spend decent money on... He's only 21. Other than him I'd say Begovic. I don't rate Koval.... He spills the ball like a hot potato frequently. Edited December 12, 2014 by MC11 Quote

In a few years, he'll be top but now, not so. Koval only spills in some of his early "highlight" videos, he's been a first teamer for years. How many times you watched him MC, match scenario? markjazzbassist Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Haf great suggestions, Ochoa and Navas were fantastic, Ochoa is with Malaga now. Either works for me. Probably have to get it done in the summer, unless we can get them in January and have Howard out by Summer to MLS. Quote
Cornish Steve Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 This is one position where we really shouldn't bring in a younger player. 26 or older would be best. For the record, I'm not willing to write off Robles. It's not easy to come into a regular game having been on the bench for months. Difficult to know when he'll get more time, though, until Tim Howard get injured. People always focus on the one mistake (understandably so because it cost a goal), but his play in the rest of the game was not bad at all. His confidence will grow only as he is given more opportunity. For his sake, I hope we have an extended FA Cup run. Quote
Brett Angel Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Hull keeper,Cardiff keeper Quote
Paddock Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 Begovic for me. He would definitely be interested in coming and within our reach. We should get him in ASAP. Howard will still be in goal next season though and Robles will still be number 2. Of that I have no doubt. Quote

Paddock Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) how much do you think he would cost? Mignolet was 11m for reference. Thanks for the Minolet reference, I'd never of got an estimation if it wasn't for that!! Not sure what igiscontract is but if it's long somewhere between 8-10 million probably but if we want a class keeper that's what we're going to have to pay. The reason it will cost this much is the reason coco the clown will still be in goal next season. Edited December 13, 2014 by Paddock Quote
Peter H Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) Salvatore Sirigu for me. World class keeper. So where do we find 18.9 mil pounds? Edited December 13, 2014 by Peter H Quote
Peter H Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 how much do you think he would cost? Mignolet was 11m for reference. Around 10.5 according to transfermarkt Quote

Peter H Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 isn't he the starter for PSG? or is he their bench guy? Starter which means that its not going to happen. He would be my first choice if it was possible. Quote
Btay Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 Seen Ochoa mentioned a bit, I like him - class shot stopper but he is physically a bit to small to deal with crosses and corners in the prem.. Begovic has to be first option.. Quote
Matt Posted December 14, 2014 Report Posted December 14, 2014 If we're going on highlights, and if we're living in dream world - Ter Stegen. Can we do a 2-3 year loan like Chelsea did with Cortois? Quote
Quinn31 Posted December 14, 2014 Report Posted December 14, 2014 I'd take an in-form Tim Howard. That lad ain't bad, Matt, Toffee_in_LA and MC11 3 Quote
Bailey Posted December 15, 2014 Report Posted December 15, 2014 Tbh there arent a great deal of young keepers that I like the look of that dont already cost the earth. Quote

seve Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 I think ive made my views known on tim I personally would go for experience we don't have 3 years to wait for some one to mature its begovic for me Quote
Blueherts Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Fraser Forster or Sergio Romero. Quote
seve Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 how about shay given for a short term replacement no cost Quote
Walker Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Think Jack Butland could be a good signing if it could be done relatively cheaply, not going to dislodge Begovic any time soon but could blossom with us given game time. I still think Martinez will persist with Howard though, to his detriment, Martinez has far too much faith in some players who just aren't performing at the level we need to be at. Quote
Lowensda Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Younger versions of Howard (and better) around the globe; Kivrak - Trabzonspor Ron Zieler - Hannover (Might want another crack in the UK?) Cillessen - Ajax Ruffier - Etienne Leali - Juventus Perrin - Genoa Quote
Peter H Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 David Ospina or Anders Lindegaard? Lowensda 1 Quote
Lowensda Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 David Ospina or Anders Lindegaard? Neither getting any game time, i'm surprised Ospina wasted his talents to sit on a bench his entire Arsenal career. I'd take him definitely. Quote
Peter H Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Neither getting any game time, i'm surprised Ospina wasted his talents to sit on a bench his entire Arsenal career. I'd take him definitely. Thats what I looked for, keepers not getting game time. Easier to approach. Id have any of these two but Ospina tops my list. (Of realistic targets) Quote
