An improvement is better than nothing, but we haven't improved enough. Should have gone for it from the start (which I was expecting unsworth to do) but we were too cagy. We don't need to go into games trying to steady things, that's what Koeman has been doing for months, we need to go out and press and try to force errors, we're too broken mentally defensively to try otherwise. This Chelsea team today were on paper beatable and easily susceptible. The second half doesn't make up from the first half. Still not good enough.

Beni.

Thought Davies did a good impression of a headless chicken and then got destroyed for their second goal myself.

Harsh as ever

He put himself about, was a real menace and closed down a lot. Not sure how he was supposed to mark 2 players for their second

He closed down a lot, or tried to, but didn’t really get near anyone. Always that bit too slow on the uptake.

He wasn’t supposed to mark 2 because we had another Everton player there with him, he was supposed to go with Willian.

Tired eyes letting me down then, :) I'll take your word for it

I must admit I find Davies an annoying player and I don’t think he did any better tonight than he did in the other game against Chelsea, where he was completely anonymous.

I still maintain his best game for us came against Leicester at Goodison last season and he’s not got anywhere near that level since. That was the game that convinced me he could be a quality player.

Many opinions I guess, but he was one of our better players. A bit too keen early on but once he calmed down he was very good, especially second half. Lots of pressing and tackling, some good passes and lots of energy to get forward. The more he plays the better he gets.

My MOTM.

But mentions to Beni, Jon Jo, McCarhy and Jags.
