I know people are desperate to get someone through the door but is replacing deadwood with deadwood really that exciting? He's been playing in the Championship this season and has scored zero goals. I just can't understand why people are getting excited about this? The Edin Dzeko shout I can understand the pros and cons but with this I'm thinking folk are just desperate to see someone new.
Zero goals and demanding £100,000 a week (according to reports). I'll be made up if he goes to Fulham, would be uninspiring to say the least. Not to mention that he's just turned 29!

Nice chap, not good enough as a footballer. Good luck to him.

It's the time of year where the likes of Steve Bruce and Allardyce roll the dice and try and get players in the door who have "experience" to help get a few results.
Delph fits that illusion because he has experienced being around players who know what they are doing and he's an older player who releases alot of hot air.
    Come and get him.

For sure James isn't particularly effective when we are without the ball and opposition players do tend to just ghost past him - potentially leading to 'chance created' for the opposition. So as a player he has to be marked down for that.
However, on the flip side when his is in our starting line up our 'chances created' numbers are significantly improved.
And it think that's how you have to think of James - on balance, does having him on the pitch (over a more ordinary player who is 'acceptable' both going forward and tracking back), over all lead to an increased number of Everton 'chances created' once you take the additional 'chances created' by the opposition his lack of tracking back lead to.
He also came to the club at 28years old on a free transfer rather than with a £50M price tag - because he's not the complete modern day player - if he was it would be in the Real starting line up and we could only by dream of having this conversation. We don't have the pockets to buy players who at as good as James is going forward and also know for putting in a defensive shift in.  We are not in that market yet.
What we have to do, as a team, is maximise James's forward player whist minimise his defensive shortcomings. We do that and we win lots of games.
We are fortunate at the moment to have arguably one of the best manager in the world at getting the best out of players and being adaptable enough to tweak formations to do this. So we are in a  lot better position that we where before James to arrive.
There will be frustrating games in which he plays - and we have just got to accept that sometimes. I just love seeing him in the team -  He just make stuff happen.

I’m laughing because like everything on this forum it’s “what have you done for me lately”.  People raved about him when he first came here and He played well the first few games and people kept talking him up like a worldie.  He’s form has dropped and now “he’s shite” “get rid”.  FFS that’s stuff I expect from Liverpool and United fans not “thinking evertonians”.  He wears the badge let’s get behind him he’s played a ton of matches probably been one of the most consistent names on the team sheet, Might just need a rest.

I don't see anything in James as a person to suggest he's anything other than someone who just wants to play football.  Took a pay cut, players love him, professional demeanor.
Positive person who like Ancellotti embraces new starts.

Along with Allan, made the Whoscored  XI of best new signings in the premier league.
Allan was the signing Everton desperately needed by James Rodriguez's move from Real Madrid to Goodison Park was certainly the most eye-catching. In fact, it's arguably one of the most remarkable transfers in Premier League history. Rodriguez was an instant hit with the Everton fans and has six goal involvements in his first 10 league appearances. Of players to have started more than five league games this season, only Kevin De Bruyne (one every 101.2 minutes) is creating a clear-cut opportunity more frequently than Rodriguez (every 120.7 mins).

Great post in the echo on James and his form.
Detailing exactly what I have been saying recently.

Can’t work out how to link it haha. But one stat... in the last three games he has been credited with 14 shot creating passes.
Three short from the 17 he created in the first three games....... that’s how bad he has been recently.
The article explains how short sighted it is to base form on assists, as an assist is relying on the prowess of the finisher. Take Gylfi and his chance as a great example of this.

Guy is just class, if we can’t allow for one special player to relax defensive duties there’s something wrong.
Not a chance he should be left out. If he’s fit he plays.

Look, that was a great 3 points. Great first half, they showed us what they can do, terrible second half (in fairness I thought the players looked knackered) but they dug in and we got the result. That was probably the most nervous last 20 minutes of armchair viewing that I've seen as an Evertonian in a long time. And the reason for that is because I believe we can achieve something this season, every 3 points matters. We have two winnable matches ahead of us (home to Leeds and away to Burnley) and then the dreaded hard December. 6 points from our next two games and December won't look so daunting. It goes like this, home to Chelsea, I'd hope to win, then away to Leicester, will be a tough match but would hope for a least a draw, maybe sneak a win depending on injuries etc, then at home to Arsenal, again I'd hope for 3 points. Next away to Sheff Utd, another possible 3 points, next up Man C at home, we'd probably settle for a point but they're not great. As I've said before I haven't felt this excited about our club since 1984 and I remember the gut wrenching fear of dropping any point back then. And I feel that now. We're close to achieving something. I remember a few years back when Klippity took over the red shite and people on here ( or maybe it was the old forum on the official website which sadly got closed, good laugh, but you can't get way with that carry on these days) were pissed off that they had a plan, a vision and we seemed so directionless. I agreed. But now I believe that we have a plan, a vision,(our stadium included, though I'll miss Goodison). DCL is fast becoming a superstar. All of Ancelotti's signings look great, we wouldn't have had them otherwise. Richarlison is probably our most important player at the moment and has been instrumental this season. Previously we would have lost him. Lets win a cup this season( I don't care which), qualifiy for Europe (I don't care which) and win the league 2021/22. And most importantly, let the fans in before the end of this season.

DavisJD reacted to Zoo 2.0 in Newcastle (Away) Sunday November 1st
That's what years and years of shit recruitment does, our squad depth is non-existent. A good chunk of the players that we're having to rely on are mid-table fodder (at best) so it's little surprise, if extremely depressing that we go up against what is a piss poor Newcastle side and create the square root of fuck all for 96 minutes. Our tactics were negative, because they had to be - the Southampton game showed that we have about as much threat as a wet fart after a salad, so the best option was to park the bus like a League Two side and try to snatch something on the break. There's pace in Nkounkou, but he's basically a youth team player so can't expect miracles from him and it's as if Jonjoe has a fucking magnet attached to his arse pulling him back to his own goal - take a shot every time he played the ball forward and you'd be as pissed as the Pope. If Schalke are still somehow interested in him, then slap a reasonable figure on him and move on.
Keane was OK, but Yerry Mina had another shocker. Getting touch tight to Ryan Fraser, known in all four corners of the world for his pace is a recipe for disaster and lo an behold he gets in behind and makes it 2-0. Utter, utter schoolboy shite that should quite rightly be played on the big screen at Finch Farm with concluding questions about what the actual fuck he was thinking. Robin Olson gets a free pass to be honest, made his debut and did well as expected, would arguably give him a go against United.
Delph - fuck off. Give him a £100,000 bonus when he manages to get a decent cross in and we'd still be £100,000 richer at the end of the season. Shite. Only managed to get a ride in Manchester City's side because he was English, had he come from overseas he'd be turning out for Grimsby.
Andre Gomes (who I love to death) was shit, again. Stonewall penalty, don't kid yourself. Waving your legs like an inflatable outside a car garage in the middle of the box is again schoolboy shit and asking for trouble. Did Wilson make a meal of it? Yep, but you've got to ask why we're in that situation to begin with.
Bernard, another player that I absolutely love was dismal. Has a turn of pace but never uses it, instead opting to either play a 50 yard sideways pass or a defence splitting ball backwards to Michael Keane. Can be fucked off in January, again if Roma are wanting to give us silly money then take their arm off and move on. Gylfi Sigurdsson doesn't deserve half the amount of shite he gets but again, today, shit. Twatting balls from about 489 yards rather than actually looking to break the lines and feed DCL into play, he's a luxury player that in sides like this we can't afford to have.
As for DCL, he had about as much service as a takeaway in Chernobyl. Fuck all. Had to come about 40 yards deep to even see the ball which meant he was basically a defensive midfielder wearing a number 9 shirt, amazing how when we actually get the ball in and around the six-yard box (through a deflection) he sticks it in the net and pulls us back into the game - had we done that from the first minute we might have actually got something.
Overall another shit show, last week was abysmal and this was just as bad. Take out the genuine stars in our team; James, Digne, Richarlison and we're fucking abysmal. It's going to take more than one or two transfer windows to sort this out, and I'm living in hope that Brands and Carlo can set things right but at the moment, here and now we're a mid-table side sprinkled with world-class talent. A defeat to United will be three defeats in a row, winless in four - thank fuck that we had an amazing start to the season or we'd be rubbing shoulders with the pondlife that is Fulham, West Brom and Burnley.

People (on both sides) criticising Pickford for his tackle have clearly never played in goal, it's a 50/50 ball and you're taught from year naught to come out and take the ball, man, corner flag, referee and anyone else who might be in your way. If Jordan had bottled it and VVD had made it 2-0 I'd be absolutely livid.
Any other time it's a non talking point, but because it's the derby and VVD looks to be out for the season everyone's losing their mind.

The disparity in global pricing makes it hard to swallow in the UK I imagine.
In Australia, I get every match streamed live, and on demand for the next week, free with my Optus mobile phone plan. Or I could purchase it for $14.99 per month or annually for $139.
I’m sure there’s similar deals in many countries.
