DCL returns  the mistake-favor to McNeil by ignoring him.

Better cross from McNeil would have given DCL a chance.

We are not playing that bad at all...just some brain fart defending and world class finishing.

I’d think it surely is crucial, given that we’re 17th, owing to the 10-point deduction.  Moreover, our play has been inconsistent, and just now we’re missing Gana, Doucouré, and an in-form Gomes.
Still, our players have had a bit of a break — last match 10 days ago —so I assume Dyche will set out his strongest 11, which might mean Harrison in Doucouré’s spot with McNeil and Danjuma on the wings?

Without knowing any poster on TT, I could see from the way longstanding posters interacted with Bill that he was an institution on TT.  Even when, maybe especially when, people disagreed with him, their respect for him was obvious.

That was an awful game of football to sit (stand) through. I see some of you praising Villa but I thought they were poor and you wouldn't have known they were a side at the top of the league. Especially as they seemed quite content with an away point fairly on in the game and were time wasting at every opportunity.
Both sides had their chances in the game - first half Villa had a lot of the ball but I thought we had the better chances and in the second half Villa were the better and more threatening side. So I felt a draw was a fair result in the end.
The use of VAR today just highlights why fans (at the game especially) are so fucked off with it. Why on earth did it take so long to rule the Villa goal out when it was clear as fuck that it was offside? Because it was taking a long time to make a decision we were all stood there saying it must be a close one, but then when it showed the image on the screen once the decision had been made it was comfortably offside and it's madness that it took them 4/5 minutes to get to it!

This is really sad to hear, like many Bill was a massive part of the forum when I joined which was around 15 years ago now. He was one of those few special members that seemed to be part of the fabric of the place, as @c1982 said I remember he had the TT Emergency Board so that we could keep booting off about Everton if this place ever went down - I think that shows the work he put in behind the scenes. The fire that he showed in his posting was no doubt from a deep love of Everton and as others have said, not necessarily a bad thing at all.
Hoping that Bill is at peace, condolences to his family and of course @patto.

Including their passing, which is crisp, accurate.  We’ve already made at least 4 poor passes, badly weighted, losing potential opportunities moving forward.

This is such sad news for you and your family, Shukes.  I hope you will be able to comfort each other through this heartbreaking time.

Three good plays there — Gomes’s pass, DCL’s touch-lay-off, and McNeil’s shot.  Maybe only 3 good plays all match, though.

    No attacking threat.
    No options.
    Players look tired.

I have seen this sort of PK a few times.  Often fails.
It reminds me of a now-common “shot” in basketball in the U.S., especially college bball.  It’s very common for a player, especially on a breakaway, to take the ball to the hoop for a thunderous windmill-slam-dunk, more and more frequently, one-handed.  Showy, self-indulgent, look-at-me.
I refer to this as a “thunder-dumb,” as sometimes, too often, the preening player actually misses what should be a sure 2 points.  My response is invariably, “Sure hope we don’t need that 2 points.”
This basketball play is stupidly violent.  Onana’s was stupidly over-clever.  “Look at me.”
Seems likely this will haunt him.  Hope it inspires him, instead, to excellent play from now on.  Want to see relentlessness, not cleverness.

Onana was very good throughout the game... But that penalty?!?!?!
I think he saw his name in lights but unfortunately the arrogance was not well placed.
    Absolutely gutted.

I completely understand that the game evolves over time but I will argue with anyone that the best way to take a penalty is to have a long run up and twat the fucking thing. What the actual fuck was Onana thinking? He's a young lad, he'll learn but absolutely fuck me. Game winning penalty and he does that. I just don't know what to say.
Pickford got a good hand to at least three too, we're cursed and you can't convince me otherwise. When the time comes to knock down Goodison there will be some weird voodoo shit under the pitch.

I had a bad feeling when Gana stepped up. He should be going last when it comes to any type of shooting.

Brutal ending. You don't like to blame anyone in a penalty shoot out but Onanas effort was poor.  Pickford unlucky not to save a couple more of theirs
