So glad none of the board was there to revel in these good vibes. This is an experience for the players, the coach and the supporters.

Win, draw or lose - If the lads put that effort in I’ve got no issue at all. Very, very good half and we should probably be going in with a lead.
Let’s get back out there and straight in to them. Points for the taking here.

My family are a family of Evertonians.

4 years ago we said goodbye to my Grandad. That weekend we played Arsenal. At the post funeral wake I got me and my boy tickets and we won a good game 1-0.

Yesterday, we said goodbye to my Nan. You know the rest! Tried to get tickets last night but no joy.

Not a believer in omens and all that but if we win today...I'll well and truly shit my pants!!!

Today we saw the player I hoped we had bought. He did more in the first 20 mins today than in the previous 20 games.

Presumably Dyche will go 4-4-2 so here’s what he’s got:
    GK: Pickford/Begovic
    RB: Patterson (inj)/Coleman
    LB: Mykolenko/Vinagre
    CB: Tarkowski/Coady/Godfrey/Mina/ Keane/Holgate
    CM: Iwobi/Gueye/Onana/Garner (inj)/ Doucoure/Davies
    LM: McNeil
    RM: Gray/Townsend (inj)
    ATT: Calvert-Lewin/Maupay/Simms
    Youth: Mills/ Price
Options… recall Dobbin/Cannon? Sign unwanted free agents?!

What a ridiculously imbalanced mess… 6 centre backs compared to the attacking options (lack of)… a couple of injuries to Gray/Iwobi/DCL and what have we got? We needed 2 wingers and a striker before Gordon went - DISGRACEFUL!

I really don't think Iwobi has the discipline for a central midfielder in a 442.
He gets caught out in a 451 too often but at least then he has more cover. It's not like Dyche is known for his creative players in midfield so I think we will see him line up wider for the rest of the season.

The last line hits the nail on the head. Whilst I get that it is good to have some depth, unless those players are replacing the starters then how much have those teams actually strengthened.
Whilst Southampton have brought in 5 players, how many of those are going to improve them? From the little I have seen, their two headline signings are questionable. See how they get on but there is a good chance they would have been better off recalling Nathan Tella who is having a decent spell at Burnley than signing the players they have to fill those attacking positions.
There is no doubt that we could have done with something extra in those attacking positions, especially after the sale of Gordon but at the same time, pissing money up the wall on shite is what has got us into this position in the first place.

Agree. Call me crazy but I'm actually encouraged by the window with one major caveat. Simply, our chances at relegation haven't changed all that much, nor would they have with a signing or two but we've managed to create much needed flexibility in the summer. Thelwell will either be buying 3-4 prem players or turning over the roster in the championship but either way we'll have the resources to accomplish our goal.
All that said we're still completely unable to change the perspective around our club. Encouraged by how many targets Thelwell had and their profile for the most part. No more Tosun's, Walcott's, Niasse's for christ's sake. What he couldn't overcome (even without the board meddling in his business) was the fact it's incredibly clear players are put off by our current situation. Without changing that Thelwell is f***ed.
Our options for this season were/are: Stay up and have an active window, stay up with what we've got, relegated and have an active window or relegated with what we've got. Option 3 would obviously be worst case. Option 4 is next then Option 1 then Option 2. We've (unintentionally mind you) gone for the best option.

Gana shouldn’t be any where near the starting 11 on recent form.

Cool your jets Haff, everyone here loves this club. Many myself included believed the board were going to improve. We were dazzled by the new stadium. But the reality dawned on us as the season went on.
Now I imagine pretty much all on here want the board gone. So let's unite behind that and the team.

I think this is looking like our best-case scenario: no money spent, no panic buys, no relegation. If he does it, Dyche should have  another pub named after him.

He got Burnley to 7th and 10th? And he had an average league position of 15th?
Shit, I’d kill for that level of competence at Everton.

As an Everton fan you can have both waking and sleeping nightmares about our club.
It's very efficient, unlike the club itself.

Good interview that. I've always liked Dyche as a bloke. Proper Northern lad. Maybe he did what he had to with Burnley in terms of playing style etc.
The media do tend to tarnish people in our minds.
We've tried everything else from champagne to gravy. Maybe a bit of fizzy pop will do the trick.
