Yes to get rid of Allardyce!
    No to Van Gaal!
The rumour of Van Gaal kills the excitement of sacking Allardyce!

Went for Gana, solid performance, I don't expect him to be the player maker, so won't crucify him for not doing so.
Schniederlin was a major surprise last night, played a small if he wanted to have an impact on the game for the first time this season.
Solid if very dull performance from the whole team, no real shocks there then given our managers style.Sooner he goes the better.

What a load of crap, "targeting winnable games" he seems to have over looked the away games we were capable of winning, given that the right team and formation were sent out on to the pitch.
Allardyce must have so many journalists in his back pocket the way that they are defending him, or does he have a few hit men he has borrowed from Russia who the journalists are all frightened of?
its making my blood boil seeing the press defend the arrogant lump of lard.

Expecting a 30 something to get from defending his own 18 yard box, into the opposition 18 yard box and then back to defend our 18 yard box just isn'tt going to happen.  I sometimes feel like it has got to the stage where he is going fishing with these comments to reel us in!

Go now please Sam, its mine and my sons first year as a season ticket holders, we would like to renew and continue to support this great club, but while your here, it's In question.
You have a reputation for making teams difficult to beat, clearly that ability has passed, so be honest with yourself, that is if you have the ability to do so, and not continue to be delusional, and do the decent thing for everyone who loves this club.

This falls fairly and squarely on the manager. He's the leader. He's the one who inspires, who encourages, who cajoles, who praises, who sympathizes, who gets everyone to pull together for the good of the team. It comes with the job. Blaming players is, quite simply, pathetic and abrogating responsibility. If you must resort to blaming your team, you've failed as a leader. It's as simple as that.

The more I think about his comments after the Arsenal game the angrier I get
How can he complain about consistency when he doesn't pick a consistent side? Or a consistent formation? What fucking idiot decides to change from a back 4 to a back 3, which is a formation we just don't look comfortable playing? Not only that but away at fucking Arsenal! Furthermore, who then decides that as part of that 3 we should play a CB that has only been at the club a matter of days?! Never mind that even the established players would have found this a tough ask because we had limited time to work on it having played on the Wednesday.
Then you find out that the reason he did it was because Swansea fucking City did it and got the win. Does someone want to inform the stupid cunt that Swansea have different players than us? Because you can't just copy a tactic that worked for one team and just expect it to work for your team. We do not have the players for the formation. He talks about himself being a good tactical manager... Fuck. That. Shit. He's a clueless shitehawk.
He also spoke about getting to the 40 points mark as quick as possible so that he can try things in preparation for next season... If this horrible bastard is allowed anywhere near us throughout the summer and into next season then we are royally fucked, and Moshiri needs to take a chair to his own face. It doesn't bear thinking about the (further) damage that will be caused by keeping him on for longer.

I think a lot of it is to do with confidence. Look at the Watford and West Ham game, we were nervy until we scored the first, then the intensity picked up, players were more confident on the ball, took more responsibility and slowly the performance picked up. Against Leicester we were shocking to start off with but we got a goal and looked a lot more composed until they scored and then we shat ourselves again.
I remember Unsy repeatedly saying that the players just needed to start believing in themselves and I think that's key. If your confident you go into a 50/50 expecting to win it. If you aren't confident you go into a 60/40 and expect to lose. Thats why I think it was absolute madness to change the formation in the way he did and switch so many players around. Players become unsure of what they arent meant to be doing, where they should be, who they should be covering, that creates doubt and then that doubt tears away any confidence the players had from midweek.

Wiggytop reacted to Elston Gunnn in At what point do we say we are in a relegation dogfight?
From after the Southampton defeat, Everton took 14 points from its next 6 EPL matches, a wonderful period, even if the football was uneven.  On the eve of the holiday fixture list, who any longer needed such a panicked thread as this one?
The holidays were unkind, football-wise, the beginning of what has become a full 6 weeks of gloomy football, leavened solely by the 3 points against Leicester, whether deserved or fortunate.  The gloom is darkest now, the darkest it’s been since Southampton, so that 24 hours after the pathetic Arsenal performance by manager and players alike, Everton fans are in a murderous mood.  I know I am.
Pretty much universally, we saw it coming at the exact moment the lineups were announced yesterday.  I labled it a 7-2-1, and decided after 5 minutes of play that it was a 9-1.  Others of you offered ominous descriptions and predictions, justified almost immediately as Arsenal players laughed their way to 4 first-half goals.  It seems reasonable, not unhinged, to feel contempt for the manager, the owner, the DoF, and more than a few of the players.
Is it reasonable, or unhinged, to think we are in a relegaion battle?  I myself feel a bit of both.  It’s unhinged, in that we’re on 31 points with 12 matches to go, many seemingly winnable.  All things being equal, why not predict we’ll end on 45+ points, mid-table, disappointing but easy-safe.  That’s actually what I expect, or would, if things felt normal, equally worried and hopeful before eachn match.
But things don’t feel anything, in any way, hopeful.   Neither yesterday’s loss, nor Allardyce’s self-serving, not-my-fault, comments, nor the players’ individual and collective effort yesterday, nor the creeping and now suddenly ubiquitous and deeper gloom - absolutely none of that  bespeaks anything in the cosmos of hope.  So while I expect - truly - we’ll stay up, I feel foolish just now thinking that way.
My near and intermediate term fear is that there may be a substantial carry-over effect from the multiple aspects of yesterday’s stunning defeat.  I worry about downhill momentum.  Very specifically, I fear we might fall several spots down the table after our next matches, of which we have but 3 over the next 4 weeks.  If we lose next Saturday at Goodison to Palace ...... good heavens how could we expect to stop the downhill slide away to Watford or Burnley?
I’m willing to say it’s just a little too early to panic.  I’m also willing to bet that 38, possibly fewer, points will see us safe.  Yet nothing feels logical or calming about Everton today.  It all feels embarrassing, pathetic, chaotic, ugly, gloomy, sour, nervous.  We’ve become a laughingstock, we know it, and we think it’s deserved.
Are we in a relegation dogfight?  A normal, discouraging loss away to Arsenal would not justify overwhelming gloom.  But yesterday and the aftermath feel as if the Leicester result was a false dawn.  Dark mood, dark days all this coming week.  The typical enthusiastic pablum that appears on the OS from manager and players - “We’ve got to come together, show our character, blah, blah, blah” - won’t do, and likely will simply further infuriate us/me.
Is Palace must-win?  Since relegation is our worst football-imaginable prospect, and since taking anything in the 2 away matches following a loss to Palace is unlikely, the answer is yes.

FFS are you expecting miracles  in his first season? he's still learning his trade, and has had to do in a side totally lacking in confidence, he's been the one player who's shown a bit of spirit this season

There’s so much I have become disillusioned about of late, so much so that I’ve lost a bit of my love/passion with all the money/no ‘connection’ with many of the players but Seamus just epitomises everything that’s great about our club. He’s the kind of player that makes me proud to be Blue and I can’t say that about many of the current/recent lot.

Wiggytop got a reaction from MikeO in Liverpool (FA Cup Away) Friday January 5th
I was lucky enough to be at the game last night, albeit in with the wrong crowd, we got tickets from a relative who holds a senior position in a major broadcaster.
we were in the Dalglish stand, totally surrounded by home fans, I've never felt so uncomfortable in my life, not being able to vent my emotion, and hearing the vile abuse of everything Everton related, we got some dirty looks when we couldn't suppress a muted "get in" when Siggy equalised. It was brilliant hearing our supporters throughout the game while sitting with the home crown, but I so wished we could have been in with them.
Liverpool were there for the taking last night, particularly after we equalised, Sam should have kept DCL on and gone two upfront, McCarthy and Bolasie were gassed and needed replacing.
Niasse should have been covering the post when they scored, basic error.
Martina was dreadful, he either  gave the ball away, or failed to win his tackles, failed to put any crosses in.
Rooney was stupid, early bad tackle made when no real pressure put him on thin ice for the rest of the game.
Holgate clearly thought he had been verbally abused, on TV. Replay you can see how he responds when he hears whatever was said, clearly incensed, and if true, it will be interesting to see if as mention earlier how his teammates will respond.

Niasse isn'tt up to being the lone striker, he didn't win any aerial challenges last night, DCL wins significantly more, and brings other players into the game better. Neither are enough for us to push for a European place if played on their own, and I see Niasse as an impact sub rather than being in the starting 11.

We make it far too easy for teams to play against us, as we let them pass across their lines without putting any real tackles in. mcCarthys introduction brought our first string of aggressive but fair tackles this season ( Gana TBF has won a few but not particularly strong) if we're letting teams do that, it's all,too easy for them to know they can move the ball around without any real challenges coming in. There must have been at least 10 half arsed challenges from Keane and Schniederlin last night that failed to win the ball. Yes we will get some yellows,  it I'd rather one for a touch tackle, than the inevitable trips were end up making as we're chasing the ball ( Keane bottled out of a tackle which led to Rooney booking if remember right)
If fit McCarthy has to be a starter on Friday.

I like Gana, his energy is vital to the team IMHO.
Having been to every home game this season, him and Schniederlin just don't work well together.
I've not seen Schniederlin launch any attacks yet, he's great at going sideways or backwards. He used to be better, don't know what's happened to him.
Gana does get caught out of position and on th wrong side of his man at times, but he is far more positive in all aspects of his game, if he could work on his shooting skills, he would be so much better.
