David Moyes thread

Recommended Posts

I'm not so much pro-Moyes anymore but that's bollocks. The players are just as much to blame, they're using him as a scapegoat for shite performances and lack of effort.

I agree but they are doing it just as much as he is using the players as scapegoats for his own team selections / late strange substitutions and weird comments to the press about the lack of quality in his own side.

Im neither pro nore against Moyes.

I think for me even though I've questioned Moyes man management skills at times was shocked to see how he has gone about dealing with key players... Rooney, RVP, Evra, whilst turfing out the old back room staff. He had a job to convince these players and for me his arrogance has got in the way.

It doesn't take a genius to realise that Moyes appointment has been the determining factor in league winners turning into European qualification strugglers.

The backroom staff was his biggest error. Get rid of one, fine but not the whole lot.

Did a fair bit of looking at red cafe, ok maybe I've got a case of Shadenfreude... But...

Overwhelming categories.... Fans in complete denial = fergie left him an impossible job, some players are a disgrace letting him down, woodward failed in the summer etc. He will come good.

Then there are fans who take a pinch of that and ask why did he get rid of muelensteen, Steele, phelan etc, why are his tactics so shite, why are his substitutes awful. Why are his interviews so worrying.

There are less backing him now than there was.

Am I enjoying it? Yeah a little. If that man came out and made an apology for his behavior in the lead up to his appointment and attitude towards us I may relent a little but sorry, there is no chance of that.

We clipped his wings in front of his new employers and our fans gave him what for, he ain't gonna apologise.

While he was here I always thought of him as a genuine honest guy.

No longer sure I was correct. But Even though I feel a little delight in him struggling, I do hate to see any manager in that position.

If he loses his job there with his current record ... I think it would be the end of his career, and I do not wish that on anyone.

Moyes would get another job no problem, it would be at a wolves, wba, west ham.

I always said Everton was too big for him. In many ways we were.

Moyes at Upton Park, I could go for that right now. Allardyce is just about done, but the porn brothers will at least allow him to carry on until end of season. Say get Moyes in during the close season, expect big things, and watch sites like KUMB expose more vitriol this time next year towards their latest managerial figure as things turn nasty or expectations aren't met. There's little chance Moyes will go to Molineux or Hawthorns.

There was a big extensive feature in the Daily Mail today incdentally about Moyes endeavors at Old Trafford that caught a read of, if anyone wants to rush out an grab a copy or near a news outlet

Nominated for manager of the month for December....! Ahaha.

Couldn't beat the "bigger" teams (Newcastle inc), scraped wins against the teams at the bottom end of the table but still considered one of the best managers in the league. Brilliantly ironic.

I thought that was quite strange too. He isn't receiving the same sort of criticism that Villas-Boas did and I think we all know the reasons for that. As you say he scraped wins against Hull, Norwich etc (the latter game they were very fortunate). Newcastle and Everton both outplayed Man United at Old Trafford (it's become a thing on Man United forums for them to claim they were the better team in those games, but they seriously must have been watching different games to me; Newcastle in particular passed around them for fun).

Essentially he was outplayed by better teams and got lucky wins against poorer. It hardly deserves the nomination. However, I've probably been a bit overly harsh on Moyes here and not given him credit for the things he did do well at Everton, so I will try and be more objective on him in future. He has did well in the CL and he's managing Januzaj and Rooney well. I still think the job is too big for him and he's a mid-table manager, but let's see how things go from here.

I certainly think they won't sack him any time soon as Ferguson's ego would never allow that to happen.

Rumours of Rooney wanting a move to Chelsea today so how well is he managing him?

Fair enough. We will see what happens - I just meant Rooney was playing pretty well under his tenure.

But he believes United's struggles will soon be over: "I just sense that it's just on the verge of turning," Frankly, I'll believe it when I see it.

There seems to be a lot of that - apparently Rooney and Evans said the same thing. Heads in the sand springs to mind.

The best way United's problems will be over, is the day they terminate Moyes' employment - or if Moyes takes it upon himself to resign.

So what if they manage a win over todays opposition.

It's still the same side that ended their FA cup participation only a few short days ago, there's no chance they will win back the title, and may struggle to even qualify for a european place, or even reach the league cup final - and even if they achieve the latter, are they really going to beat MCFC in the final event ?

They've gone back to how it was with Atkinson in the 1980s it would just about appear, but as before, at least that name actually managed to win trophies.

With Moyes is that really going to occur ? He couldn't even do that in 11 years at this club with lesser caliber players at his disposal.

It's all going to end in tears sooner or later.

LOL.... he's a little tinker ain't he...

Pure mind games which will prompt the thoughts

  • Is it mind games or has Rooney's agent been up to no good...
  • Is he in dialogue with Fergie
  • Is he patronising united

Either way it's genius psychology.

Bringing Neville as a cheerleader was a particularly daft idea.

wait there he's more than that, he has a clip board, looks serious and does Steve Round impressions... he probably still leads the jogging and stretching too....

PIP taking the warm down:- "eh lads!!!! come on!!! never mind laughing get focussed, get them quads stretched..." fires a serious stern look over at Zaha who despite scoring 5 goals in training wasn't quite risking overstetching and injuring himself. Phil duly notes this on his training notes....

DM watching on with Steve Round with their hands resting on chins looking pensive:- "I tell ya Stevie, this lad reminds me of myself... he will go on to do great things in this game"

Steve Round nodding:- "Can I have a new bluetooth ear piece boss?, Sam allardyce has got one"
