Aidan
Have to admit...after watching Kone up close yesterday, I am really worried about our forward situation. What if Lukaku does get hurt? Ahhh got it....Dunc....put a shirt on mate. Would genuinely rather us put a youngster in than Kone.
duncanmckenzieismagic
Everton XI (vs Villarreal): Howard, Coleman, Baines, Jagielka, Stones, McCarthy, Barry, Mirallas, Osman, Cleverley, Kone. k Talk about picking your favourites , how is Kone keeping Rooney and Ferguson out of the side! London Blue
He'll probably only be on the field for about 5 minutes so that'll be some achievement! I think he'll play around 20 minutes, but given his performances at utd the last few years I'm confident he will be a he'll of a lot more fired up! Romey 1878
Goals without Lukaku are looking like being a problem. So I hope Martinez isn't bullshitting when he says Lukaku will be fit to play against Watford, and I hope he IS bullshitting when he says we're not looking to bring a striker in. Romey 1878
Anyone else think Rooney's hamstring is gonna go as soon as he runs out? As long as he hasn't been training with us he should be fine.
JoeQuince
As long as he hasn't been training with us he should be fine. Might be that the kit guy has been putting hexes on our shirts. You never know!
Romey 1878
I think its fait to say absolutely nothing has changed since last season, and I don't just mean a lack of fire power It's got the feel of Martinez just burying his head in the sand. We need signings and we need them before Saturday. It's embarrassing that we'll probably be scrambling around on transfer deadline day for our main signings. The number 10 we so badly need is someone we've known we needed since LAST summer, so there is absolutely no reason why it should be the case. JoeQuince
If there's one word to describe our play, I think it's "impotent." Runner-up would be "pointless."
MikeO
Seamus should've done better there.
JoeQuince
Seamus should've done better there. Tim, too. I'm not in the "Howard Out" camp, but that was a weak, lazy attempt from him. I'll blame it on him not risking himself during preseason.
pete0
Shocking defending, should have dragged the ball away to the left. Piss poor attempt from Coleman, far too casual.

milesey05
Injury after injury with no depth in the squad to cover positions. A week to go with 4 million spent and only 2 new players. So excited for this season. Romey 1878 and Toffee_in_LA

JoeQuince
Was good to see Rooney carrying the ball back to the centre after the goal, he wanted a second. I can't lie. I was smiling seeing him point and shout all over, trying to captain us to a victory. He was going for it. Makes me wish it was in the cards for him to come back and finish out the last good years of his career.
Lowensda
It was pretty lackluster and uninspiring, both exactly what I expected from the game. I think we have far too much work to do to the squad and time is running out incredibly fast. Martinez has to come up with a game plan B for when things aren't going well. Also like to point out that the whole "don't need to practice corners" guff is looking more and more rediculous.
MikeO
Nice on pitch stuff at the end as well. A good day. I thought we were decent first half but we need a cutting edge from somewhere or we'll be mid-table again.

I still can't believe that this is a reality. We are constantly undone on set-pieces. Always asleep. How often last season was it that set pieces did us in? Side note, I feel like a lot of fans blame those cockups, unfairly, on Howard.

Can't blame him for a defender not doing their job. At the same time, he does do this stupid flailing starfish thing that usually knocks the ball back into the 6 yard area. Cornish Steve
Talk about picking your favourites , how is Kone keeping Rooney and Ferguson out of the side! Because he's being given the preseason to win back his confidence. If it doesn't happen, he'll be out.
Lowensda
If it doesn't happen, he'll be out. Don't see it. Martinez has too much faith in him...he's the only person with any faith left but he persists.
