Romey 1878
Two world class goal keepers made that all happen. Unreal. Some absolute shockers of penalties played just as big a role! holystove
Hafnia
Some absolute shockers of penalties played just as big a role! Having those lads in the sticks made the difference. Even well struck pennos were nearly saved, very intimidating for the takers. Big difference seeing a 6ft 5 "cat" in the goal versus a 16st lead footed Peter shilton. Composed penno takers lost their bottle... pure psychological battle. I thought it was brilliant. Best shoot out I've seen.
markjazzbassist
I've noticed that 4-2-3-1 has been the most popular formation in domestic football and that has translated to the national teams. However we have seen that sides setting up with 3-5-2 have been able to do a lot of damage. Playing 2 strikers has left centre halves in 2v2 situations and has discouraged full backs from pressing forward. Likewise the 3 central defenders have been able to completely isolate the solitary striker on the opposition. Do you think this is something we might see in the Premier League next season? Rodgers used it at shite, Bruce at hull, rednapp at qpr, we've already seen it in the prem.
EFC-Paul
You play to utilise what you have available Wales and Italy are both testament to that recently playing five at the back and hitting on the counter
Matt
Good finish from Giroud there. Iceland seem to have hired Martinez over the last few days
StevO
Yes Paul, I think we'll see it more often. Might be the next popular formation from the current 433/4231 we've seen for the last few years.

johnh
France 4 - 0 up at half-time just shows how abject England are.

Cornish Steve
Come on, Wales!!!!! I read this morning that, because of the Euros, Wales will be ahead of England in the world rankings. Mind you, based on their performance, England might even trail Gibraltar in the world rankings. Edited July 6, 2016 by Cornish Steve
Cornish Steve
Wales to win. Icing on the cake would be seeing Ronaldo sent off.

Matt
Ramsey's absense is massive, a gaping hole between the midfield and strikers. They're working hard like but it's pointless
