Got a booster jab appointment booked for Nov 5th, which I'm happy about because numbers going up again quite rapidly. Incredible really that the UK has had 8.64m cases, that's one person in every eight has contracted it; and it's going to go higher because it's forecast to hit 100,000 new cases a day over the winter, insane.

And had a flu jab yesterday as well😷💉

Sister tested positive this morning and she's the most careful person I know (she works in microbiology testing), means she can't come the game. She's doing alright she says, a bit rough and a fever but is very grateful for the vaccine. Top ups can't come soon enough.

Assume that's Tori Matt, wish her well from us.

Covid numbers in Minnesota are currently some of the highest in the US right now, which is alarming.

Big issue right now with my circle of people is how it's affecting the theater community here. All of my friends are either in shows or have spouses/friends in shows, so if one person contracts it in a show at one theater, it's very likely to spread to other theaters across town, which can then shut down those shows for up to 10 days.

When we go out to a place now to play trivia or go out to eat, we all keep our masks on unless we're actively eating or drinking. I'm sure people think we look ridiculous, but we have to be extra careful right now because of our profession.

We can get all the booster shots we want, but if people are still contracting it, it's still going to cause havoc.

The cold weather is kicking in over here now..... Far more indoor socialising and closed windows.  Let's hope it doesn't kick off again.

I think it will mate a few countries in Europe are heading for their 4th wave, I really can’t see us escaping the same fate. I know more people who have tested positive in the last few months than I knew the 2 or so years previously, without wishing to sound dour it’s looking inevitable that we are heading for further restrictions, unless we give the heard immunity a serious go.

Or if everyone would just fucking get vaccinated

Everybody should have the right be thick and put people's lives in danger.

Like you mate I’m a triple jabber yet I will be totally honest my first thought wasn’t I’m having the vaccination to save others, mine was self preservation and not being excluded from the things I enjoy in life, so in some ways I’ve allowed a chemical to be put into my body that hasn’t gone through the test of time or the rigour’s of years of scrutiny for the want of an easier life, some may call that stupid. My wife hasn’t been vaccinated not because she is a conspiracy theorist or an anti vaxxer but because she doesn’t believe the vaccines are proven to be safe and we can’t possibly know if we will suffer irreversible bad health in the future, now she wouldn’t call that thick as much as she would not call you and I thick for having it, and in time will have the vaccine if proven to be safe over a period of time. So selfish me just says that fair enough but don’t think that I won’t be going to Spain for 6 months a year because they won’t let you in.

That would be the ideal scenario but won’t happen unless of course you take away people’s right to abstain from the vaccination program.

I really don't get the argument against vaccination. A child can't go to school without having a complete set of vaccinations. A student can't go to university without having a complete set of vaccinations. What's the big deal about having to have a vaccination the stop many thousands more from dying?

I think the main complaint from anti-vaxxers is that there wasn't enough thorough testing and they don't know the long-term side effects.

Even though the CDC has said that the potential side effects of the vaccine pale in comparison to the effects of contracting covid.

Maybe that’s the case in the states but not here kids have and still do go to school not fully vaccinated, parents have to give permission before their kids get vaccinated. Believe it or not thousands of parents chose not to vaccinate their kids at all or pick and choose which vaccines they will allow their kids to have.

Why are we doing absolutely nothing when this is the situation in Germany now?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-59378548

They still have around 10,000 less cases a day than us (with a bigger population) and have had 99k deaths so far against our 144k, despite our higher vaccination rate. Madness surely?

Because they only have 68% vaccinated and we have over 90%, so possibly our government feels we are in a better position when it comes to people being hospitalised or dying from Covid. We will never eradicate Covid and it’s variants you and me can and probably will still catch it even though we have had 3 jabs we can only hope by doing so we won’t become to ill, although I do have my doubts about that due to my own experience. No government is making it mandatory to be vaccinated a few reasons I’m guessing, so if those who don’t want to be vaccinated catch it and die or become seriously ill then that’s tough they made their own decision and payed for it. We can’t keep locking down or shutting shop on certain sectors of the economy indefinitely. I still have the anti bodies from when I last caught it so maybe the vaccination with herd immunity is the way to go, but one thing is for sure it’s never leaving so we just have to learn to live with it, and if any of us are one of the unlucky ones who succumbs to it’s worse effects, then there was nothing our family friends or neighbours could have done to prevent that vaccine or not because you will catch this vaccinated or not.

We have 69% fully vaccinated in fact, with serious concerns that the protection it gives is falling off, plus we have a considerably denser (in more ways than one👀) population than Germany, but we're doing nothing and the clown in chief isn't even bothering to follow his own rules.
