StevO
There are many reasons England didn’t win that game, but Italy are a damn good side. They conceded early and then slowly pulled the game back in their favour. They were the better team on the night and could have beaten us in 90 minutes. They were the best team in the tournament. I’m gutted we lost, but we lost to the best team out there. This England team can grow. When any of these players turn up at Goodison next season I’ll be on my feet clapping them onto the pitch. I hope they can go one step further in Qatar. Haiku, Sibdane and Palfy

I know some will not like to hear this, but it's how I feel. They are not yet top-notch. 3 hours ago, StevO said: This England team can grow. It's a comparatively young team, which does leave room for improvement. It takes time to climb to the top and stay there. This is what I'm hoping Everton will do: Build a solid young team and grow from there. Haiku
Popular Post Romey 1878
Southgate has rightly been praised for getting his decision-making right throughout this tournament but tonight he fucked up in numerous ways, and he deserves a hell of a lot of stick for it. He shit the bed after we went 1 up. He needed to get the useless Mount off way earlier than he did and Grealish should have been on a lot earlier too, he should have been the first sub without a doubt. Then he brings two players on that have barely had any minutes during the tournament for the express purpose of scoring their penalties - that is putting an extreme amount of pressure on them. To me that is shocking management. Yes, they were terrible penalties but I don't think they should have been put in that position in the first place. And to allow Saka to have the last penalty is all wrong as well. I don't care if he offered to take that penalty, you do not put that on him. He'd been awful since coming on as well, so his head won't have been anywhere near where it needed to be. An experienced player needed to be on that one without a doubt. He was absolutely devastated and that will be with him forever. Kane was terrible again, he spent the night making it look like he was trying to win headers when in reality he was just faking it. His goals in the past couple of games have masked an awful tournament for him - he was kept on because the manager was embarrassingly playing for penalties. I am so proud of Jordan Pickford though. He's been immense and is a credit to himself and Everton Football Club. He can hold his head up high - brilliant throughout the tournament but particularly tonight. Did everything he could've done to stop their goal in normal time and it's the defence around him that were at fault for the goal. Then he was brilliant in the shootout - the pressure he was under for Jorginho's penalty must have been huge but he stepped up big time. dunlopp9987
Gutted for you all. I didn't get to catch it live, just watched the replay. Jordan was immense. Hopefully he can carry that into the season and the shootout loss doesn't affect his mentality. I'm very worried about what the backlash is going to be from the awful English fans (obviously not you all.) The three penalty misses were all from Black players, and I just fear for what sort of abuse they're going to suffer for this.

He's the brightest star in the England team, and it wouldn't have been a surprise to see him receive the 'player of the tournament' award.
