Nope. What if he never recovers? I love him but whatbif he can't play at that level, we've just pissed 80 (or there abouts) grand a week up the wall for the next 5 years.

It's a stupid amount of money to risk pissing up the wall. Sorry but I'm not interested in Colemans wellbeing and bank balance I care about what's best for Everton. If that's harsh then so be it.

Be covered by insurance won't it???

It's a risky move. I like Seamus and I'm sure he'll recover but there's no room for sentiment, especially if we have Champions League ambition. A deal of three years would have been more than enough.

Exactly, I've no problem supporting the lad but 5 years? That's a long time to have a player if he doesn't recover. Look at Oviedo. Coleman is nearly 29 (I think) just makes me a bit neevous.

....or at least, his current wages will be covered?

Dunno where I'm going here!!!

I doubt it mate. I don't know for sure for obvious reasons but if we're dadt enough to give a 29 year old with a double leg break a 5 year deal onbig money I can't see us being insured for the wages.

http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/toddler-who-captured-the-heart-of-seamus-coleman-sadly-passes-away-35810932.html

A little boy who captured the heart of Irish soccer ace Seamus Coleman has lost his battle with a rare form of cancer.

Caolan Melaugh was just 10 weeks old when he was diagnosed with stage-four cancer – a high-risk neuroblastoma.

Brave Caolan, from Killygordon, Co Donegal, battled the illness for nearly two years.

When Irish soccer team captain and Everton player Coleman learnt of Caolan’s plight, he donated €6,000 to help pay for the little boy’s medical treatment in the US.

Caolan (2), endured a tough 18-month battle, which included chemotherapy, surgery, stem cell transplant, radiotherapy and six months of immunotherapy.

His mum and dad, Stacey and Gerard, had hoped to take him to Michigan for vital treatment, which was expected to cost more than €200,000.

There's a part of me that is impressed, but considering that's a months wages for the entire treatment.... dunno, the sceptic in me is wound up

I know what you mean, it's a sad world that there's a price on prolonging someone's life actually it's fucking awful

Weird thing, when the NHS spent vast amounts of money saving me a few years back (don't know what the private cost would've been but I'm guessing not far off six figures) they threw everything at me treatment, support and medication wise apart from mousturising cream, which I needed for radiotherapy burns. They were only allowed to give one tube and when I needed more I had to buy it, £3.50 odd . Mad.

Very sad to hear about the young lad.

Wish we had one like it stateside.

We may not have one soon with this government.

The way the nurse are treated is a fuckin disgrace. My wife is on the same pay she was 7 years ago.... 7 years.

She has to pay tunnel, pay parking, does 2 double shifts a week in order to be able to look after our children on her days off and she puts her heart into her job. Not once has she moaned in the way that I would... be at mentioned striking or anything, never complained about working through her lunch breaks unpaid and hungry...

Yet those Tory gobshites cheered when the vote to keep her pay frozen was announced...

Too many people in this country are blind to too much. Some of her friends have it worse.... they literally haven't got a lot to piss in... some of the nicest girls you could wish to meet.

It's a disgrace. At my last check-up "my" specialist nurse wasn't on duty at the clinic but noticed my name on the list and came down just to have a chat with me for about ten minutes, she's my favourite person in the world outside my family (I think she secretly fancies me :P). In again tomorrow for my four month "service" so hopefully she'll be around; however much nurses earn it's not enough.

For the vast majority of nurses - what they do is a vocation.

My wife went into nursing without even looking at salary etc... that's a fact.

She could be a sister earning more £££ but that would mean she spends more time in an office than looking after people.

She could do "bank" shifts (which is what costs the NHS lots of money) where she could earn big bucks going into a ward that is short anywhere... that's what a lot of her friends have to do on their days off.

Just like you experienced with the nurse you spoke of.. I have seen parents of patients walk up to my wife in the street and they treat her with the utmost respect.

Those MP's are a bunch of disgusting self serving twats.

My partner works on call as a theatre nurse. She regularly works 16+ hours. The only way for her to get a rise now is to take on a level six.

This would mean less nursing and more admin.

Her wages don't reflect the hard work and devotion that goes into her job.

As much as I understand the extent to which your system is shit, I'm not quite sure it can compare to the circus fuckery of the American system. The current legislation proposed by the GOP is mind-blowingly awful, and many hospitals are struggling as is. Seven years is a long time, but one of my best friends works at a hospital in Massachusetts where many of the nurses have been on the same pay for seventeen years and are on the verge of having their pensions wiped. Some truly insane horseshit.

What's a pension?

Seriously, for those of us who work in private industry, there's no such thing.
