Blue 250 Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Joe Royle to return, that's good news, at last a goal threat from a corner. StevO 1 Quote
Shukes Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) Remember losing 1. 6 to arsenal and he stayed behind to speak us outside the gate for an hour. Top man. Edited April 19, 2014 by Shukes Quote
Hafnia Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Joe Royle, pen knives to gun fights? He would say "fuck the pen knife, lets see you fire a gun after I've ripped your hands off" Quote
Brett Angel Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Love the man. RM using his PMA again. Going for a winner. Quote
BlueBlood81 Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Loving the fact that Bobbys surrounding himself with real Evertonians like Big Joe & Dunc. Speaks volumes for his appreciation of our history. Quote

Hafnia Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 This is what "getting us" is all about! None if this pen knives to gun fights shite. It's enough to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Quote
tonyh Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 I'm glad he's coming back and I always thought he was a good man. But as a manager I don't think he was up to much. The season he left we were terrible at times (after an excellent start). Big Nev was scathing of him in his book on that season, although he had an axe to grind. I remember once Royle said something along the lines of, 'Tactics aren't that important. The Brazil team in the 1970s didn't worry about tactics – they just used to give the ball to Pele!' Which I think isn't true to start with, but in any case overlooked the fact that closest player we had to Pele was probably Graham Stuart! Quote
StevO Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 Brilliant, get it tied up and bring him on the pitch before the City game to announce his role. Quote

bluenosetoffee Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 I've had the pleasure of meeting Joe Royle and he is such a nice person. Speaks so highly of Everton also, you can tell he loves the club. Good luck to him in his new role at Norwich. Gutted he didn't come to Everton though. Quote
Matt Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 Me dad is happy he didn't come, didn't rate him as a manager but speaks highly of his professionalism. I'm indifferent to be honest Quote
Matt Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) And he has now returned. http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2014/07/14/blues-make-royle-appointment so he has good appointment considering Stubsy leaving Edited July 14, 2014 by Matt rubecula 1 Quote
rubecula Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 This to me is our best signing for years Quote
Louis Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 I wonder if he'll keep is role at Norwich. Quote
rubecula Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 I wonder if he'll keep is role at Norwich. Not according to Matt's link Quote
Romey 1878 Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 Not according to Matt's link Louis doesn't read other people's links, everyone knows that! Matt 1 Quote
Louis Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 It's strange though, the job offer seems to have been well known before he accepted the position at Norwich - only for him to resign and take Everton's offer. Quote

I think this may be a slightly different role than what was previously on offer, a bit more hands on I think. Matt 1 Quote

Yup, Stubbs and Irvine leaving will have created the space I'd have thought; he'll be a bit higher up the food chain than he would've been in the previous circumstances. Quinn31 and Matt 2 Quote
