We've qualified for Europe!

Matt touched upon it, the league has to remain priority to maintain levels of income. The Europa League is simply a welcome addition. The prize money for reaching the semi-finals is less than it is to have one Premier League game televised.

Its a bit like a £1,000 a day lawyer taking an extra night job behind a bar for £50 a shift. If he enjoys it then great, but if he gets up the next day shattered and can't do his day job to his best ability then its not worth it.

I can see Roberto really going for the Uefa cup next season. Its another chance to get into the Champs league and a trophy to boot. Look at teams in the semis this year. We could easily beat any of them. if we boost our squad by five or six players and get Kone,Oviedo, Gibson back we should be taking it seriously. We can drop in the Garbutts and Brownings at home against the minnows without it affecting us to much. Players im told would rather play twice a week than loads of intense training

We should hope Arsenal win the FA Cup btw as we'd qualify for the group stage immediately if they do while we'd still have to play a playoff if they don't.

Of the three places in the UEFA Europa League available to English clubs the FA Cup winners enter at the Group Stage, the fifth-placed team in the Barclays Premier League enter at the Play-Off stage, and the Capital One Cup winners enter at the third qualifying stage.

In the event that the FA Cup winners have qualified for the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup runners-up qualify for the third qualifying stage of the UEFA Europa League. In this case the place with direct access to the Group Stage will be given to the club who finish in the highest position in the Barclays Premier League of the clubs qualifying for the UEFA Europa League.
