markjazzbassist
Koeman had this to say after the match: You have to understand that he is 19 years old but he showed confidence and quality. He looks very comfortable and he's a big talent. Sounds like we could have a player on our hands. Matt and efc1111

Guest rusty747
Something we can thank Martinez for. There is no doubt that Martinez would have been a great scout as he can certainly pick a good young player. But it is also a fact that when it comes to defenders, Martinez as a coach could be detrimental to a players progress. I thank Martinez for bringing Holgate to Everton but I am delighted that it will be Koeman, not Martinez, who develops him. Matt

Keep it simple for me. Most of this English language doesn't get used...a load of words should be binned!!!

Cornish Steve
http://www.evertonfc.com/news/2016/08/16/holgate-has-earned-our-trust Maybe I'm getting my hopes up too much, but I can really see Holgate becoming another Stones. If he takes his chance during these early games, he could become of staple of our defence.
BarnsleyFan
Great to see Mason Holgate doing well at Everton. Okay, it's very early but he's a highly talented defender that's had the pressure of living in Stones shadow for a long time. Be that at Barnsley or Everton. What you have in Mason Holgate is a highly driven young footballer that will do whatever he thinks best for one person, Mason. So hopefully it turns out well for him at Goodison but just remember that he's on a journey to the very top and most likely will be looking to move at some point when he's reached the summit of what Everton can give him MikeO

The club is finally making the moves that are befitting of our tradition. You would be forgiven for thinking we are not that big. Everton has been a sleeping giant for a long time. The future is exciting. Don't be surprised to see Holgate captaining the side in 4 years.

Do you have any insider knowledge as to whether you have a sell on fee with holgate like you did stones? Stones was 15%
Hafnia
Don't get sucked in. Remember this one coming here winding us up about Stones with his little digs? To be fair I don't mind it. It like a feeder club for us so it's good to hear from them. I hope they use the stones sell on money to invest in their academy, after all its their best source of income. Do you have any insider knowledge as to whether you have a sell on fee with holgate like you did stones? Stones was 15% It's a more complex deal to the Stones one. It's got clauses in for all sorts. You may or may not know that Barnsley received money for him making his debut last week. I've heard the deals also got a sell on like Stones but could be a higher percentage. Hafnia
I'm all for sell on fees etc. Lower division clubs are struggling. They should get cuts from agents fees too. MikeO

StevO
There is a chance that one day he will be too good for Everton. A chance he could go on to huge things. A chance. It's a fact that he's too good for Barnsley. Invest the money in the academy, it comes in handy for us. Romey 1878
