He was linked with moves for massive fees before the tournament even began. We never had a chance there. Matt

Bailey
I didnt realise quite how good this Brazil side is man for man. They are actually playing for each other too. I'm sure Coutinho will get all the plaudits for that goal but Casemiro has been outstanding in this first 30 minutes.
Bailey
Since my last post they have taken their foot off the gas and are letting the Swiss back into this.
Sir McGiven
Neymar is being Neymar again, so selfish but Brazil is the biggest contender in the tournament. I am not sure about Paulinho, that's all for me. Bailey
nogs
Be very interesting if this stays as it is, Brazil, Germany, Spain, Argentina all with work to do to qualify.
Palfy
Personally so far I think the best team I've seen is Spain, I know it's early days but they look like the team to beat. Steve_E

markjazzbassist
i would not be surprised if Blas Perez scores today against Belgium. He been a pest to the US for over a decade now, he's a big unit good in the air and good in front of goal. 113 apps and 43 goals internationally. old now at 37 but he always shows up in the big games. Sibdane
Disappointing half so far. Hope the second half is much improved.
Ghoat
Belgium is the only favorite who has impressed in the openers. France. Germany and Brazil all looked like they expected to win just by showing up. I can't stand Neymar's antics on the pitch, so much so that, for me, it overshadows his talent. I don't want to see him get another broken back, but I wish him nothing but frustration and failure on the pitch. Sibdane

Mertens' goal was absolute class too. Ghoat

Panama seems to be the kind of team that once you score the opener, its easy to score many more. Tough to get the first though, took a superb strike from Mertens. Ghoat
I think England actually played better than it "feels". First half was good, but Tunisia grew well after the pen, but England hung in and got the 3 points, that's all that matters in the end. It is WC, a win is a win but Maguire and Lingard will cause problems if they perform like this.

It wasnt until Loftus-Cheek came on that we picked up again and created more from open play (despite our goal coming from a set piece). When Alli stopped making runs, Henderson stopped playing forward passes and we were more predictable. The big problem for me was our left hand side. A right footed left centre back (who is a bit shit) alongside a right footed left back (who is also a bit shit) both cutting inside whenever they wanted to pass the ball. Other than that though, I thought it was largely possible. Subs took a bit too long but they were the right ones and eventually we got the goal. We have clearly done a lot of work on the training ground on set pieces which is good to see. Pickford wasnt far off the penalty either!
