chicagoblue
Very resolute performance from Newcastle. Bernard has offered very little, seems to need a while to get into a match. No one seems able to strike from distance and today the passing had not been nearly crisp enough

badaids
We must have had at least 15 set pieces tonight and they have all been bollocks.
Palfy
To many player and positional changes today really seems to have upset the balance of the team, Pickford saves the game.

Pretty well the only thing he did, then Digne wasted it... Story of the half that. Feel that Marco set them up right but the players weren't at the proper levels today. 2 big points dropped
markjazzbassist
2 points dropped in my opinion, it was there for the taking. we had probably 15 corners and made none. we attacked and had the ball all night still couldn't get another one. badaids
Newcastle basically did a job on us tonight, and we just let them. They'll be over the moon with that point. Palfy, Matt and Gwlad

Matt
Battered them but looked impotent because of their defensive discipline and aggression. Highly frustrating, and reminiscent of Martinez; pretty passing football, lots of possession but unable to break the opposition down and shit set pieces (Lookmans aside)
Hafnia
That was like watching man United vs Fulham where moyes insisted on crossing into the box non stop. Benitez is a more tactically astute allardyce.... what a horrible team, 9 players in the box defending. Referee was a complete and utter joke. Their players were wrestling ours in the box. So frustrating. Digne was awful. Coleman can't cross. Richarlison was moody.
markjazzbassist
we didn't need gana today, could have had an extra attacker to go at them. he should have been the first person subbed off today for me. no need for 2 sitters against a team defending the whole match. Aidan
Poor all round. Digne had a really poor game tonight. Caught out time and time again, but the final cherry on the cake was when he decided to have a shot at goal from a free kick late on in the game instead of delivering the back into the box - really pissed me off and should be roasted for it. Gana all over the place needs to get his head in check for the next game otherwise he can sit on the sidelines. Richarlison in the centre thinks he's got the same space as he does on the wings - not going to happen against Newcastle at home he has to be more mature in his performance. Tosun had a chance to reclaim that centre forward spot but didn't get in the game at all. To be fair to him he had one chance with a close range header which was spectacularly saved. At this moment in time DCL has more to offer than him. All 3 subs were completely ineffective. What was Silva thinking taking sigurdsson off? Not the best game for him but he seems to be the only player arriving late in the box and we had a few crosses in late on which if he was on the pitch he would have got on to. Gomes did okay and was probably our best player. If we want to be taken seriously as a top 6 team we have to be more creative in breaking shite teams like this down. London Blue
We need a quality striker, that is what this team is missing. We need that focal point who the team can play to and draw defenders. We need a forward who can create and take chances.

johnh
76% possession, 18 attempts on goal, 14 corners = 1 goal. Of the 18 attempts on goal only 3 were on target. We desperately need a striker who knows where the goal is. These stats are getting very familiar. nyblue23 and Palfy

Great shout that's why you need players that are not one dimensional who have the ability to adapt their game to the circumstances in front of them, we didn't see that today from some of the players.
