Seems to be that it is the second season after a major injury that a player gets his form back ( if they get it back at all). Let’s hope.

You’re right he won’t go down as one of the greats for Everton, but he will work his way to the top and play for the one of best team’s in Europe, he’s driven to get himself to the top he plays for himself before the club and whether he’s happy here or not he will give 100% every time he steps on the pitch, I wish more would do the same.

He is one of the few who have come for big money (too much some originally said) and actually lived up to the fee. He is a lad who works hard and plays with passion. He is definitely not perfect, but his passion and hard work have maybe elevated him above what is his footballing 'skillset', which could net us a very decent fee - so kudos to him for his effort.

I love Richy.  Odd to see some of the comments in this thread.  Maybe people are just preparing for when he leaves? So that it stings less?  Sure... he likes to pout. Sure... he is good for a red card each season. But as long as he is still on the pitch... he is always up for the fight, tracks defensively, and scores goals.  Wouldn't be linked with bigger teams if there wasn't something there.  The crowd wouldn't be signing his song if there wasn't something there (were even singing it after his penalty pout).
He may never be an Everton great or legend, but we will all miss him when he is gone.

Decent squad player that we got on a free.  Two games into the season and already has an assist and a goal.  What do people expect?  Seems incredible business compared to some of the decent/poor players we paid big fees and wages for...
Guess folks got to chat shit on someone.

I think he was better due to the style of football we were playing, suited him much better than 20/30 sideways passes; still an absolutely pitiful attempt when he was one on one though, almost comical.

After some of the shit players we’ve seen for Everton over the last three decades, the young stars who never made it (or did make it and leave), the strikers who ran the channels not scoring goals, the big names who were on the last legs, the players who kept us in the league by the skin of their teeth, and people want rid of James.
We have literally one of the biggest names in world football, bringing the club to the attention of people that wouldn’t have given two shits who Everton were before he arrived. And he's still at his peak, he's only just turned 30 (before anyone starts with his injuries he’s always had these issues they won’t change), he’s never been a player with pace so won’t be losing it.
Did anyone who wants rid of him actually watch him play for us last season? He did played some unbelievable football. The only issue is he didn’t play more, so why have him play even less by letting him leave. We can’t buy another player who has that level of ability right now. We got him in a perfect storm, so make the most of it. He is the most talented player we have had in our team since Rooney was a teenager.
If he leaves before I get to see him in the flesh at Goodison Park I’ll be absolutely gutted.
We should be enjoying seeing such a talent in a blue shirt and enjoy it while we can.

Very underwhelming , are Gray and Townsend any better than Gordon and Iwobi?
We need to be signing players who are good enough to improve the starting XI not padding out an already bloated squad with more backup players
Linked with Allan Saint Maxim and Leon Bailey but signing Gray and Townsend is the most Everton thing ever

Are you still talking wages bill here or transfers or both, I’m getting slightly confused, because we were for a long time under Moyes one of the team’s that had the smallest transfer budget for years. Also we were a selling club under Moyes, not only did he have to contend with very little money to spend he had to over come players been sold, yet without the need for a DoF he brought players in for little money and made sure they left for big money, yet still managed to keep us in the hunt for top 6 finish, I find it rich after what we’ve witnessed in the last 5 years with the money spent the managers we’ve had the DoF, that people would consider Moyes in someway a failure in the time he was with us and the restraints he had to work with.

I don't know what it is with posts in this thread that are just factually untrue. To be clear (again) I don't want Nuno but bashing him over the head with mythical facts is just a bit silly. He had four years with Wolverhampton with the last one being the only where he was pretty poor - other than that he was well supported by the fans and was doing a good job. People in August last year were tipping them as dark horses for European football as under his tenure they'd been going up, up and up again.
He took over when they had just finished in 14th and 15th in the Championship before flipping them in a single season to the Champions of the division. Of course they had help with the Portuguese influx (such as Ruben Neves) but the Championship is notorious as being one of the hardest divisions in world football to get out of - even if you spend the Earth and a penny. Whereas his time in the first season wasn't as fairytale as Leicester winning the Premier League it was commendable and shouldn't be brushed under the carpet.
Since bringing them to the Premier League he's finished in 7th twice, before dropping off the season just gone in 13th. This is with their top goalscorer of the last two seasons injured for 50% of the campaign (basically like us playing under Martinez without Lukaku and only Koné for assistance) and after losing the likes of Matt Doherty and Diego Jota in the summer. Whereas I don't think Santo is blameless (I'll stress again I don't want him here) to suddenly say that he has one good season and then falls apart is both factually untrue and a bit of a cop out when you look at the bigger picture. I think anyone, other than an elite coach would have struggled to drag this Wolves side to 7th in the table, especially when you consider they'd have to be better than Manchester City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Leicester, Spurs and an in form West Ham United to get there (not to mention Arsenal and Bielsa's Leeds who came in 8th & 9th!).

I take your point but Nuno has never had a player of James's quality before.
It will be interesting to see how the new manager handles the different personalities in the squad.
Personally I expect James to play if he is fit, you cant not use a player with his skills.

It's important to not let the media circus reflect bad on us. The media throwing names all over just shows that they have no clue. And, as I've said for years, it allows bookies to make a fortune. The biggest traditional sports media advertisers? Bookies. They work hand in hand.
I'm sure we've been in touch with various reps etc since Carlo left. Just no idea who.

You got it wrong a bit.  The season after saving them from relegation Lille got 2nd, then 4th and then won the league. That's very consistent form over 3 full seasons. You are right their DOF brought him a lot of quality, something we're at hit and miss with Marcel. Luis Campos left as well, so apparently he'll want to join Galtier with his next appointment? Are we ready to give up on Brands?

Galtier still falls into the Potter camp for me.
He spent several years at Saint Ettiene and they did win a league cup beating Stade Rennais. His cup record aside from that is very poor both domestically and abroad. Since he left St Ettiene finished higher than they did with him and they reached the FA Cup final equivalent.
He joined Lille in December 2017 and guided the club from 18th to 17th escaping relegation by a single point. He then saw a transformation, albeit with some significant help from his DoF. They came 4th and then won the league.
The 4th position came in the curtailed season when they played 28 out of 38 games. They ended with a goal difference of 8, which would get you about 8th over here based on the last three seasons.
They then went on to incredibly win the league this season, conceding only 23 goals. That won them the league. They were outperformed on scoring in real terms and in expected goals.
I just cannot suddenly see any reason why after all of those years in management that it built up to this league win. There is nothing in his record to suggest he would back it up either. I could be hopelessly wrong but it just looks like one of those great footballing stories that gets thrown up every now and then.

This. Get four or five seasons, show you can push Brighton higher up the league. None of this Xg crap, actual really results. I always thought the same about Howe. It was great getting Bournemouth to the Prem, and great keeping them there, but to really stand out you need to them progress them up the table a bit.
Any manager gets a team like Brighton or Bournemouth comfortably in the top half for a few seasons would be a real top performer. But there isn’t anyone getting to that point for me.

I don't get the fondness for Moyes. Even if you take out the points Romey made, even in his 11th season at the club in a much much easier league we finished 6th and were knocked out of the cups by Leeds and thrashed at home by Wigan. We were in Europe as we finished 7th the previous season.
Since then he had terrible seasons at Utd, Sociedad and Sunderland. He then just about steadied the ship twice at West Ham before having a great time of it this season. He has had ONE good season in 8 or 9 years. As far as I am concerned there is as good of a chance that West Ham struggle with him again next season as there is that he maintains their current position.

    Is Conte still available?
Throw a few of Usamov’s kitchen sinks at him.

Also put Joachim Löw on the list of blank cheque offers.

Or perhaps a swap deal to be announced as we welcome Zidane  to Everton.

My squad for next season would look a little like this.
    GK: Pickford / Virgina?
LB: Digne / back up (Niels?)
    RB: Starter / Coleman
    CB: Mina / Keane
    CB: Godfrey / back up
    DM: Allan / back up
    BTB: Doucoure / back up
    C/AM: Starter / Gomes
    LW: Richarlison / back up
    ST: James / Dom
    RW: Starter / Iwobi
We need genuine starters and back ups at left and right back. None of this Godfrey or Holgate rubbish.
Holgate should be sold and I would accept a decent offer for either Keane or Mina. I like Mina, but he can't stay fit. Godfrey needs a consistent and aggressive partner to show him the ropes. Keane isnt that man.
The midfield is still a problem. Allan has a question mark over him but he should only be the holding man in a three man midfield rather than part of a two man midfield. I would keep Gomes as an option whilst the rest are moved out of the squad. More pace, more energy and good technique are required. We don't need superstars, we just need well rounded footballers, not these current crop who have a hole in their ability.
James is a headache, there is no other way to look at it. He is a brilliant footballer but he doesnt fit in a system. Its either a false 9 type role or not at all. If we are ever going to get anything out of Iwobi, it is from the left and Richarlison still has unfinished business at Everton and he is usually a decent enough finisher off both feet. Dom will still get plenty of game time with James. We just desperately need to find a way of getting the best out of him (James) and if we can get on the ball more, start dominating possession, James could thrive in that role.
Those not mentioned can be moved on whether that is sold, loaned or just making up the numbers in training.

    Please do.

Under Sam he played one scored none.
Under Roy he played 16 and scored 5.
Under Southgate he’s played 36 and scored 29.
    34 goals in 53 caps.

Only Owen, Greaves, Lineker, Charlton and Rooney have scored more. None of them will be getting another cap any time soon. He’ll probably pass Owen before the end of the Euros, maybe pass Greaves before the end of 2021. He needs 20 goals to become England’s top goal scorer of all time. Five per year for the next four years?

Still only 27. Just three years older than Dom.

He’s also seventh on the premier league all time top scorers list. Only Aguero is ahead of him who is still playing. He’s 11 goals behind Henry. There is only Jamie Vardy in the top 20 that is still playing, other than Kane himself.

I wouldn’t sell, if he’s keen to stay sign him up long term.
Bring in other strikers to play along side him or compete with him definitely.
He is showing that he could be a 20-30 goal a season player for the next 10 years, and hasn’t seemed to of hit his peak yet.
    Low injury record.
Even if he keeps his current level, and doesn’t get ‘better’, he would still be an player to keep, because he has huge assets to his game that can be important in ‘different situations’ as the Don would say.
Nothing but upside, hopefully will be part of the squad long term.

To say that Kane and DCL are on the same level is preposterous. And this coming from someone who is a big fan of DCL and does not want to see him leave.
