I like Iwobi. Think he’d be a cracking signing personally. Don’t think it’ll happen though.

AlbanyNYToffee reacted to Romey 1878 in 2019/20 Pre-season.
Talking about attack in relation to that period under Bisto tits is too funny, Pete. We barely had shots on goal, never mind shots that actually hit the target! Scrap that, we barely entered the oppositions fucking half of the pitch!
You say you’d have liked him to have been given another season... I was so put off by another second of that dick head that I wouldn’t have set foot inside Goodison again until he was gone. I’m not even sure I could’ve stomached watching us on the tv/a stream. The attack was getting worse the longer he was here, the defence were shipping goals (he didn’t shore us up at all). He’d have destroyed us if given more time and more money to spend.
I don’t know how you can dislike Silva because you think he doesn’t take any responsibility when we play badly but be on board with that fucker getting more time when he blamed everyone else but himself for us playing some of the worst football (if you can call it that) I have ever seen.

Marcel is tremendous. Absolutely love his negotiating prowess. We've seen on numerous occasions 'here's our price take it or leave it'. Sure sometimes that means we don't get the player but it also protects us from a certain amount of risk. I'm a bigger fan of Walsh than most on here, over time he's proven to have more hits than misses and every DoF has hits and misses, but whoever was negotiating while he was in charge (can't remember if he was just the talent spotter or spotter and negotiator) was TERRIBLE. The players we bought are good players, the fees we paid are not. Surely Marcel would have said Keane 20m or we'll find someone else, Siggy 25-30m or we'll find someone else and so on. Seems like every deal under Walsh/Koeman was 10m more than the rest of the market was willing to pay. We were always the sucker. I just get the sense the list of targets is much deeper under Marcel which allows you to hold other clubs accountable for crazy asking prices.
More work to (hopefully) be done this summer but I know with Marcel here the club is in the best of hands.

I'll be crucified for saying this but since we missed on Zouma I think our CB cover should be Gary Cahill on a free. Ideally one yr contract but we have to go to two yrs. He'd bring a certain mentality to the dressing room which Holgate and Mina could benefit from. Certainly has enough in him to fill in for a few weeks if need be. Most importantly allows us to chase dynamic attacking players.

The word replacement is not definitive enough in this case. I understand why Marco said Delph isn’t a replacement for Gana - partly to not undercut the Gana fee and partly because their skill sets are different. However Delph is 100% going to take Gana’s place in the starting XI. So from that perspective Delph is absolutely his replacement. I love Gana, easily my favorite player since he joined us but not concerned about his leaving at this point. Because of Everton’s financial realities I think the best we could hope for with him in the team was 6th/7th due to his style of play. For all of his strengths he did limit the other CMs. Selling Gana is a risk but one worth taking now in year 2 under Marco - i look forward to seeing a more ‘dynamic’ midfield.

He’d improve our team but it’s a no for me because his heart is set on Arsenal. You don’t win things by signing players who don’t want to be there.
