MikeO
I see Hulu (never heard of them) have made six part series of Catch-22 with George Clooney involved both sides of the camera. As it was always seen as an "unfilmable" book I'll be interested to watch; the 1970 cinema version was not as bad an attempt as most critics think imo, not a patch on the book but still a decent stand alone film. Only thing is that apparently the new series runs in chronological order whereas the book jumps forward and back and all over the place, and that's the genius of it. Also worried that the reviews keep referring to the central character, Yossarian, as "yoyo" when in the book the nickname is used as a very specific device to define a very insignificant group of un-named minor characters. Nobody calls him yoyo, and if they do in the series it'll piss me right off. Anyhow, downloaded so I'll give it a watch.

MikeO
Just watched the last episode in the first series of Gentleman Jack, not a fan of period drama at all usually but it was excellent; best use of "fourth wall" I think I've ever seen as well. Can go a whole episode without it and 95% of the few occasions it's used it's by the central character but then you just get totally surprised by another person using it, might just be a glance or an expression, very clever. Not that I read anything anymore. If anyone in their profession is a genius this guy who wrote it has a mind of his own. Clooney has died off with his work over the years. Sat through the whole first episode tonight, painful to watch; small details inexplicably changed and it really has nothing of the essence of the book at all. I'll probably watch the rest of it like you can't help but not look at a car crash on the other side of the motorway.

A light show Floyd would be proud of, and three tracks that, if they are from the new album, has me even more excited for it. Again, Floyd-esq with the build up and structure but classic Tool riffs and sound. Physically and mentally exhausted but can’t stop laughing! Done a few festivals over the years (in the past) but never Glasto even though I lived close to it for many years, just a couple of miles for a short while. Always makes me laugh that they call it "Glastonbury" when in fact Pilton is seven miles distant and the nearest town by far is Shepton Mallett (very historic prison there but that aside it's known locally as "shit 'n smellit" because it's a bit of an armpit); "Glastonbury" has a bit of a better ring to it though so understandable they use it as their moniker. MikeO
Designated Survivor on Netflix, got through most of series one now and it's decent; nothing brilliant but good enough to keep watching ('specially the Maggie Q character). Looking at imdb reviews though it seems that ABC dropped it after two series and Netflix picked it up for a third and have made it more "adult" (and left wing) which many 'mericans aren't happy about; I shall watch on and judge for myself. THe first season was really good. The second season was, decent I guess. Haven't looked into the third. But, Netflix and Amazon are producing better TV that the US networks right now, IMO. I'm almost through the first series of Line of Duty, enjoying that a good bit.
Finn balor
The new Spider-Man movie was superb. Really clever storyline sets up the third one perfectly. Watch it right to the end credits roll. It takes a while but there’s a second add on scene Matt

pete0
Not currently watching but an old anime has just popped up on Netflix, AnoHana. Characters have a John Hughes vibe with the characters well bonded and little funny moments. Story wise it will have you in tears, very melancholy. https://m.imdb.com/review/rw2942256/?ref_=tt_urv Will rewatch the above once I finish the OA which has been okay so far. Decent enough story but think it would have been better as a suspenseful film.
MikeO
Not started it yet and it'll be quite a lengthy process but I've downloaded all 110 episodes of Northern Exposure which ran from 1990-95. Brilliant programme, loved it; only reminded of it by seeing Rob Morrow in Designated Survivor.
Matt
Finished (finally) s2 of Discovery. Absolutely beautiful (visually) show but they dragged things on too much. Could’ve done with making 1 episode less and focusing the story more but enjoyed it overall
