Bily

Recommended Posts

I did notice Osman have a right go at him for latching onto a cross that took it from him. IMO Osman was wrong, it was there to be hit and it showed a little bit of where Bily is in a pecking order - the lad needs confidence not shouting at, his cross for felli's goal was great.

Bit annoyed at ossie for that - bit o bullying maybe?

If Ossie has called for it and Bily still took it off him, dont blame him at all for shouting.

i could equally say the same about Fellaini tbh, and when i was preparing my questions prior to the Chelsea game on the Chelsea forum, they all loved Bily on there, i was very surprised.

Well this is it tbh, the few times he has played in the middle show he is not a winger, so its down to the manager as far as im concerned, i will agree he has not performed like maybe he should have, but Moyes has treated him like shit imo, he has tried to make him into something he's not from day 1, so imo im not really sure why DM bought him in the first place.

Its another Toffeetalk myth!

Bily has played wide left for Russia on numerous occassions so its not as though the role is unfamiliar to him

yeah and? Bily has said himself at least twice i can think of, that his prefered position is in the middle though, he should know more than any coach or manager, don't get me wrong i DO think he could have put more effort in at times, but i DO think Moyes has treated him pretty badly, i really don't know why he bought Bily in the first place.

This!

If he wanted a winger, he should have signed a winger. Not someone who can just do a job there, £10m needs to get a specialist.

if it goes in the top corner theres no problem, but it didnt, so ossie thinks he would have had a better crack.

more of our players need to pipe up imo

Personally, I'd rather Bily had the shot than watch ANOTHER Osman daisy cutter. The amount of opportunities he fluffs is unbearable so he should pipe down, not up.

Osman was in a better position imo, was just pulling back his foot to strike and Bilyaletdinov [sideways on] ran across him and fluffed it for both of them.

If he scored Osman would have congratulated him, but he didn't and ruined a good chance for Osman to bag one.

He has always played left midfield for Moscow as well. You know you can watch the "Revision History" of Wikipedia articles? Well, he was always listed as "left midfield". That really isn't something Moyes pulled out of his arse. All this "he should play in the middle" has only come up at Everton.

yeah, they are Bily's words and he should know if its prefered position or not

An excuse for his horrid performances on the left probably. In the middle he'll actually have to battle for the ball... A midfield with Bily in it will get overran.

He is NOT a winger if He has played there for Russia which I doubt anyway then it's covering for others.

He plays behind the front man/men to the left not on the left wing "My position is left-sided but not as a winger, I come inside then go outside."

Anyhow either way I still think Moyes has failed to get the best out of him but if he goes I wouldn't be to fussed.

I dont think Bily has ever been used as a traditional winger though and it is clear to see that it doesnt suit him. Whether or not he would improve that much if he was moved centrally is a bit of an unknown, but its safe to say a lot of his best play for Everton has been through the centre or starting centrally. I wonder if he could play as a full on CM? Im not sure he would have the discipline for it but looking at them video's is suggests he did play in that position in Russia.

That's just a terminological debate. He might not have been a traditional chalk on the boots kinda winger in Russia either, but he did play out wide. And that's all I expect from him at Everton as well. He just needs to drag the right back out of his zone by coming inside, thereby making space for Baines. But he usually fails to do even that. Pienaar wasn't a traditional winger with pace and tricks either, but he did manage to not be shite at playing out wide. You know why? Because he wasn't shite in general. Maybe I'm being a bit hard on Bily now; he isn't shite. He's got a great left peg, which is a real attribute. Maybe he could excell in a less physical and slower paced league (like the Spanish one).

Hard to argue to much with if I am honest. Thought today might have kicked on, but he showed that even with time and space he lacks the control, technique and mentality when it matters. He should have been ripping Woodgate a new arsehole but decided to hide through the middle and offered no help to Baines whatsoever. He is such a frustrating player.

Haha how is it a terminological debate a winger is a winger its as simple as that!?

His main position is not out wide which is a winger see the above link his own words & Semshov usually plays out wide for Russia Bily usually sits behind Arshavin.

I'm not defending his qualities nor that he can cut it but think if He was played in his position which IS NOT A WINGER we MAY have seen a better player.

This argument could go on indefinitely about where he can or cant play, doesn't matter if he plays out wide, inside behind the striker, or in goal, the bloke is never going to be a 8 - 10 million player, and if we could get any money for him i would sell him as soon as, cos he is wank.
