Bolton (Away)

I asked some Bolton fans on www.wanderersways.com a few questions with permission from Happy Wanderer.

Friendly bunch, and clearly a few opinions there. Anyway, enjoy.

1. Where do you expect Bolton and Everton to finish in the Premier League this season?

Eddie - Bolton anywhere between 14th and 18th, Everton between 9th and 14th

Didledee - Bolton will finish in the relegation zone, just ahead of Wigan, so 19th and Everton about 13th.

KP - Both fighting it out at the bottom.

frank_spencer - Anywhere between 10th and bottom if the season stays this close.

Matt - Bolton 13th – 18th Everton 8th – 12th

2. Which Bolton players should we worry about the most, and are there any Everton players you would be worried about?

Eddie - Klasnic, maybe Mark Davies or Eagles if they are on their game. Saha, Rodwell and Baines from you lot

Didledee - You should be worried about Chung-Yong Lee and Stu Holden, oops, hang-on, they're both maimed sad.gif, if the Chris Eagles against Stoke turns up, I'd be worried about him and maybe Klasnic's left foot and if M.Davies is on form, his dribbling and passing game could open you up, as for Everton, I'll go with Baines, from set-pieces.

KP - Klasnic, give him a sniff and he's one of the best finishers around. For you lot, Fellaini's elbows.

frank_spencer - Klasnic is about our only dangerous player atm however he's a chippy bugger so us just as likely to get sent off. As for everton aside from Fellaini and his flailing elbows (he makes Kev look angelic) that Drenthe looks a good in.

juewanderer - I'm going for Kevin Davies , Everton players to worry about , no , not really we'll handle them smile.gif

3. With the current Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright facing some fans turning against him, what is your opinion of the way your club is ran under Phil Gartside?

Traf - Generally content. Survival is success for a club like ours. We have no delusions of grandeur.

Eddie - Like Traf said it seems to be run as well as it could. We don't spend much, but we don't have much to spend.

Didledee - So-so, not quite sure what happened with Sam Allardyce, then messed up in giving Sammy Lee the job, he annoyed 99% of the fans with Hiring Megson, that turned out to be a very dark era, he cheered us up by finally sacking him and hiring the once believed GOD Owen Coyle, that's turned out to be just as worse as what it was like under Megson, not much he can do really, no funds, average players, sacking Coyle will only give an unlucky manager these players and we'll still not have our best 2 players available.

KP - He does what's best for the club, I'm happy with that.

glossopWANDERER - doing a good job always going to be hard to keep fans expectations realistic

4. With the speculation surrounding Gary Cahill's future at Bolton, do you expect him to leave in the next window? Who would you like to bring in to replace him?

Didledee - Yes, he'll be gone imo, as for a replacement, I think Zat Knightmare will play alongside Wheater. Who decent would we get to replace him?, well, who would want to join a team that is in free-fall, wait for Ricketts to get back from injury and try him after Knightmare as made about 1000 mistakes in a couple of months, the cash we get for Cahill, our massive debt would like a bit of it.

Eddie - He will be at Chelsea in January and him and Terry will be the England pairing for club and country. We won't have much to work with but maybe Onuoha or Ryhs Williams.

Traf - He'll leave in January. Who we'd like & who we'll get will be two totally different things.

KP - Chelsea in Jan would be my guess after his recent peformances in the England squad. Not a clue about his replacement.

frank_spencer - Chelsea for 5m in Jan and I'd like us to sign Onuoha but we'll get some yank in to replace him

5. The January Window is just around the corner, where would you like to see Owen Coyle strengthen the side?

frank_spencer - At the moment? Everywhere.

Didledee - There's a lot of change needed, relegation will obviously bring this, however we'll not be mathematically down in January, so we might as-well try our luck at one last chance of savior. We need a new captain, we need a new left side, we need a play-maker, we need miracle heeling physios for Holden and Lee, we need a time-machine to bring back Sturridge and Elmander, we can't just rely on Klasnic to make up the goals they scored, yes I joke, but that's what happens when Bolton embarrass and shame themselves, 14 losses out of 18, Everton must be thrilled to be playing us :/ don't be worried about our 5-0 win against Stoke, that was our perfect revenge for What happened at Wembley last April, we then follow it up with another defeat.

Eddie - Full Back's and a replacement for Cahill are musts. If anythings left over then a winger.

Traf - Full backs, please!

juewanderer - I'd say a proven striker ( maybe one on loan) and defenders who can actually defend

6. If you could take upto three Everton players, who would you take?

Matt - Baines, Jagielka and Fellaini.

juewanderer - Baines, Fellani , Rodwell

glossopWANDERER - baines, jagielka and rodwell

frank_spencer - Timmy Tourettes, Rodwell and Baines

Traf - Cahill, Rodwell & Fellaini.

7. What result do you predict?

Eddie - Anything could happen depending what Bolton team turns up, apart from a draw (we don't do them). I'll go for 2-1 Everton

Didledee - Loss, we've had our win, we always lose a couple/few/four/five before we get a result again, 1-2 Everton.

KP - If the Bolton of the majority of this season turn up, a scabby loss. If the Bolton of parts of this season and last do, I'd be confident of a comprehensive win.

frank_spencer - 2-0 everton.

glossopWANDERER - home advantage could be the key 2 - 1 to bolton

8. Finally, where would you recommend for a pre & post match pint?

Pablo - Wigan !

Casino - halliwell or johnny fold is where you'll best fit in

Theboybell - Closest to the ground your going to get is beehive pub on the roundabout in Horwich

Big E - manchester then get the train.

So long as its not an embarrassing performance like last year and a win, i'll be happy. Seem like a decent bunch over there!

My introduction thread was a bit lively to say the least, but amongst themselves, not me.

They were welcoming and the admin was helpful too. Certainly a decent bunch.

When next season comes around i'd recommend them again.

After Moyes' comments about not having enough flair (despite leaving some of our most creative players on the bench consistently) I expect to see some changes to bring more spark into the team.

Coleman & Cahill have been average of late so it wouldnt hurt to bring in an alternatives such as Gueye, Bily or Barkley who have that mystery about them. Id put Drenthe back on the right, Gueye on the left with Bily or Barkley behind the striker with Osman & Felli in the middle.

Nice lads at Bolton, Blackburn and Burnley for that matter... went to 3 Bolton games last year and a few more at Blackburn and Burnley.

Kevin Davies is like Cahill - a pain in the arse if he's against you, but you'd want him in your team. An irritant, but has some skill, even if not at the 'very top' of his game.

Everton though just look too strong. Even with a poor forward line, I'm sure you'll win this. Morale is low at Bolton and a fair few fans are genuinely 'accepting' relegation as a likely outcome (but with a bit of optimism too, and rightly so).

Had Everton not beaten Wolves last week, I might have gone for a draw, but I'm pretty sure Everton's confidence is restored.

I like Bolton, so I have to be honest, hope they can snatch a draw (no offence to Everton). Sadly, you're too good for this lot.

Lawro's Prediction for Bolton Wanderers v Everton (1500 GMT)

After beating Stoke 5-0 the other week Bolton fans will have thought that they were ready to kick on but they were defeated at West Brom last weekend and they were fairly meek and mild. West Brom won comfortably.

Bolton are in the mire and they need to start picking up as many points as possible. Losing games knocks everyone's confidence and all of a sudden mistakes start to flow and individual errors can kill you.

Everton are looking like a mid-table team this season and unless they find a sugar daddy with hundreds of millions of pounds then any sort of deal to take the club over is not going to happen.

Everton won against Wolves last week and I see this being a draw, which is not much good to either team to be honest.

Prediction: 1-1

Here are all of Mark Lawrenson's 130 predictions for the 2011-12 Premier League season, together with how the League table would look like if those forcasts were all correct...
