Kept having a go at them at 4-0 down, don't think I seen us have a go at them at 0-0 under Moyes.

I've said before I would sooner get battered having a go at playing football and attacking than playing the shite Moyes had us doing and losing 1-0.

You call that having a go? Seriously? Yeah we had lots of the ball but we did fuck all with it. We weren't sharp in attack, we were slow and lethargic (unless Mirallas had it) so all the shite had to do was sit in. They barely had to do a thing.

Painfully obvious from the off that they were happy for us to have the ball and sit deep. They were always going to have us for breakfast on the counter when we had our quickest CB out and a CB playing RB, and they have Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling charging at us... Tactically we got it all wrong, it was embarrassing.

Ref didnt help and Mirallas and Barkley looked like the only ones who wanted to have a go.

What else are we going to do?

Everyone was moaning to high heaven that we changed the way we played against WBA. We go back to our more typical style of play and then we should have changed it up.

Even if we had Usain Bolt in defence some of them goals would still have been conceded.

Tactically, Liverpool got it spot on and the way the game developed played right into their hands given the pace and versatility of their attack. They pressed us really well and we got caught in no mans land too often when we lost the ball.

We played in the same style at home, but the difference in that game was the high energy and tempo which we didn't have today especially in defence. When we pressed them as a unit we caused them problems and turned the ball over quickly, but we got spooked early and dropped off and gave them too much time and space in general, which couple with our errors in possession or marking led to silly goals being conceded.

and we still came nowhere near fuckin scoring

Yes we did. Mirallas had a couple of good chances, Jags had one, Stones free header, the McCarthy/Naismith. Nothing as guilt edged as the Liverpool chances obviously but on another day we could have scored a couple (and on another day they could have scored 5 or 6)

Bloody hell mate. About 1/10th of our chances were even close and they were off target.

Another pointless post from the king of pointless posts

Then don't fucking read it you prick.

You got your thoughts on the game, others have theirs. Can't even say a goddamn thing anymore without some cunt jumping in and making belligerent comments. Concentrate on the fucking game, not preferences and what you see issue with with other participants. You may not like other names on these pages - they may not like you - but no sense in supporters of the same club at each others throats, and in no goddamn mood for the usual snide attacks.

The team got a heavy defeat this night right ? To oppositon we'd rather not lose to Ok ? It's a bad time for everyone, but focus on the ineptitude of the goddamn team if nothing else, and not other participants you take issue with.

The fight's not here - It's out there

There's really nothing else to be said here. Team suffered a heavy loss, appeared a lackluster performance for the most part, in all probability won't achieve champions league soccer now, going to take a game or two to get back from this - time we can't afford to lose - but there's no good crying over tonight, we can't change what just occured.

Would suggest participants focus on the weeks ahead and the good of the team following the aftermath of tonight over issues with others - more so supporters of the same goddamn club side. May not say the right things in some peoples eyes, but only want the team to do well, and tell things as I see it. Fight amongst your fucking 'selves, there's nothing more to be done this night.

Say again suggest people focus on team progress, over some words on a goddamn screen that one or two decided to find issue with. Got enough to deal with underway.

You sort of answered your own question.

You have to be versatile and adapt to play against the opposition and exploit their weaknesses, football isnt a "one style fits all" scenario. When we played them at home, we had pretty much our strongest team out and the added bonus of being at home, so we could dictate how the game was going to be played.

We had to adjust today because we had players out of position (stones) and players coming back from injury (barkely, pienaar, alcaraz) but we didnt do that and played right into Liverpools hands. Everyone is slating Stones but he was told to press that high up the pitch and everyone knows he didnt/doesnt have the pace to get back if we did get caught out...its painfully obvious stuff like this thats cost us. I agree, Liverpool did get it spot on tactically, and its blatantly obvious how and why, which is why its so embarrassing.

The difference was lack of pace at centre back and John Stones well out of position for the second. He had an absolute shocker and certainly isn't a good RB. He hasn't a clue once he reaches their 18 yard box.

Just cos they were off target doesnt stop it being a chance. Does that mean Sturridge's penalty miss wasn't a chance?

Honestly mate, I've only been on this forum a week but some of you're views are way off the Mark. We did not create anywhere near enough clear cut chances. There was 2 in the whole game. Mirallas drive and McCarthy. Everything else is not even worth mentioning.

Mate, you don't even watch or follow the game. Your most common first post in a thread is "I didn't even realize we were playing today". You come in with a comment about how you read or heard we were doing such and such and propose to explain what needs to be done. I'm not sure you've ever offered a relevant topic in a game day thread. If you want to offer your philosophical musings I don't think this is the place for it.

Good on you for wanting the team to do well, but you've got to see how your left field comments might be perceived.

Probably applies to about half the RBs in the league.

We knew he wasn't going to bomb up and down the wing. We don't know why he was pushing up; presumably the 19 year old makeshift RB wasn't doing that on his own, which leaves RMs instructions. If he's done what he was told and is caught out by teammates poor decisions/passing that's hardly his fault. I suspect RM wanted him to stretch the pitch and try to drag a Liverpool midfielder over. It didn't work, but not much we did today worked. Think Stones is the wrong target for our frustration.

The reason why we lost this game wasnt because we pressed too high up or anything like that. They attempted to play a similar style at ours (where a counter attacking style would suit the away team more) but we shut them down because we stopped them from playing for 90% of the game. Today we gave them too much space and time. We didnt press them hard enough IMO and part of that is probably due to the changes in the squad and fitness of certain players too. Tbh I didnt see anything wrong with Stones for the goals, 2nd goal we shouldnt have lost possession and 3rd goal Jags and Alcaraz were away with the fairies. If Stones stays back, we struggle to move the ball out of defence even more, then we end up going long and then we end up down shits creek yet again. We could have sat back on the counter, but we would have probably had the same problems moving the ball forward as the scenario above and in the same way Liverpool did at times when we pressed them up the pitch.

It fucked up badly tonight and we were horribly exposed, but Im sure Martinez set out to close them quicker and keep the ball better and I bet he wouldnt change that philosophy and I dont think he should do either.

For years I havent wanted to attack teams and try and play the right way. We tried it today and it didnt work for whatever reason but at least we tried.

Haha ok if you say so.

I never said clear cut, but they were good chances nevertheless and on another day could have gone in.
