Shukes
Except Keegan challenged for the title with that side. We're not even close to that. The quality at his disposal is real and strong yet he can't get results Sorry for that stupid post MC, I'm just so angry at this result. Doesn't make it excusable but you have a knack of getting me to bite haha. Sorry mate.
milesey05
Would you rather go back to the last ten years of Everton? Massive underdogs, boring football, not much in the goal department other than set pieces and still an average team? No, for me we have taken a step forward. I much prefer being able to score goals, play great entertaining football, and the knowledge that if we cam start defending better we can make big things happen I suppose at the end of the season I may end up in the vault haha! We have the best bunch of players we have had for the last 20 years yet we sit in 11th. If Moyes had these players and had the backing of the chairman that he didn't have to sell anymore than I guarantee you he would have got more out of them. Matt
Just watched the interview again and Martinez was very good; showed his anger in a professional manner, pointed out the obvious flaws, defended his team but also criticised the squad. I wish he had this honesty and strength in all his interviews. efc1111 and Romey 1878
Newty82
Was at work for this one...but stood there with my phone on throughout! Obviously can't comment on any performances...but gutted about the 98th minute goal...it seemed everytime I checked in the 2nd half, the score changed! And if you think the game is a roller coaster of emotions...you want to keep check on the comments on here! Cracks me up...the emotions, insults...the lot. barryj
Patience has ran out now and this is the first time I've said it but RM must go, we physically can't hold on to a lead as a football club. The amount of draws we have in comparison to the individuals we have in our squad isn't proportionate. The foundations have been laid, let's see who else can take us forward. Irrelevant it's Chelsea away, everton losing leads this season has happened more than I've ever seen at any club in my lifetime. Major over reaction! You obviously are quite young because in the 90s we went through many games struggling to even get a point with dire football. last 5 games win against City and Daganham and Redbridge. Draw against City, Chelsea and Spurs. These aren't bad results in anyone's book. The fact we can go to Chelsea (current champions) and outplay them and were robbed of all three points shows how far we've come. Some of the football we play is mouth watering. Some defending awful but things don't happen overnight. MikeO, brittoncarl and Chach
milesey05
Not trying to rub any salt in the wounds but as my step son is a shite fan I had their last game against Arsenal still on the planner. The referee? Mike Jones Added on time? 3 minutes Full time whistle blown? 92 minutes 58 seconds. Just wish I could go back to his other games. I know it's gone and nothing can be changed now but, if he's blown up on time in his other games the fucker has some serious questions to answer. Hafnia
Your post would have substance if this was the Chelsea of last season. This was the Chelsea of last season... Chelsea played as good as I have seen them in a long time. They same as man city in second half last week... at their best. The same as spurs in first half week before. We have played some bloody good footballing teams. Edited January 16, 2016 by Hafnia Chach and brittoncarl

Cornish Steve
They also scored three goals. Not good enough. That's why we sit 11th. Its not because Terry was offside or stoppage time went 90 seconds over - its because we have conceded 32 goals this year. That is unacceptable when you look at the quality of players we have at the back: Baines, Jags, Stones, Funes Mori, Coleman, Galloway.......I mean WTF?? Who else do we need back there? We are the most entertaining team to watch, but you won't see us in Europa or Champions League next year. Why? Nothing changes. We did not concede three goals. In the final moments, our defence played it exactly right, and John Terry was way offside. It wasn't a goal; it was a travesty. How can you criticize our defence for doing the right thing? Sideliner
This draw felt like a lost to me - life is not fair - we got no decisions the whole game - Chelsea should have had 5 or 6 yellow cards , only 7 min extra time which was a lot anyway and no equalizer - miles off side - Mirallas was like a fresh brease compared to Uncle Osman or Kone - we havecertainly been missing him! Lets use this season to learn lessons to avoid same mistakes next season
Hafnia
Fair play Martinez has kicked off a shit storm. He has called out that the ref and 4th official confirmed it was time before the terry goal. He also completely criticised the ref. Let's see if the FA have the balls to charge him. MC11
That's factually incorrect . I still back him, just, and I'm definitely not a fan of computer screens I can pretty much guarantee we'll finish in a poor position this season, you only have to look at patterns. Whilst draws may be accepted against the top sides it's the middle of the road teams that really hurt us..... We are draw specialists, those teams are coming again and then there'll be more excuses for him. What may save him will be the cup - because he's that type of manager - playing on the edge but it can always go either way. That will be great but also a disaster for the long term. This bloke hasn't got a clue how to shut shop and it's cost us 'at least' 12 points this season, that's top 4. I find it hard to believe that people can't see through this. We finished 11th last season and sit in the same position this time round and can't get a consistent run of wins. We are essentially stuck in the mud with a fantastic crop of players. We shouldn't be where we are and the biggest issue if all is persuading these players to stay when we inevitably finish mid table again. It's not good enough. Shukes
It's not that we don't see it though...or me at least. I'm just looking at the bigger picture. I don't think football is all about patterns, I think it's more planning and then luck. At the moment we are playing well enough to win points. But luck is against us. Now if like a few of you say, we end up mid table and still toothless at the end of the season then I will agree. But if we can drag ourselves up to top six and do well in the cups, then maybe we can say ...ok maybe we have turned that corner. Getting to score goals wad the first step. Playing to win against top teams is another step. Getting the defence in order needs to be the next step. Will it happen overnight? Of course not. Will it happen at all? Maybe. I'm willing to give him the rest of the season to try. So for now Roberto....you can stay. brittoncarl
Cornish Steve
We outclassed the current champions, away, when they are an improved side, playing attractive football, and still the moaning continues. It beggars belief. I ran a regression analysis, and the correlation between the strength of emotion and the incredulity of comments is very high, so I suppose it's understandable. brittoncarl

That a a good point away at Chelsea, just feels shit due to manor of last goal.

Win the cup and I still won't change my mind. I agree that the League Cup means nothing; few top teams really try to win it. League position is the best judge, and I'm convinced the results will come as the season progresses. I've mentioned before that the correlation between league position and goal difference is very strong, and I expect us to move up the table. In the second half of the season, we've tied (away) with City and Chelsea - and should have won the latter. This is a good sign, not a bad sign. brittoncarl
MC11
On the basis of goal difference we should be sitting between 7th & 9th on par with Southampton & United. For me 7th is still not good enough

We wouldn't be having the same debates every week if things were moving forward. I don't understand why it's taking so long or why it's so difficult to sort out. But I honestly enjoy watching and am much more optimistic than last year. I believe we have a better team. I believe we can compete against the top teams. I believe we have a chance of winning something. I haven't felt this way for years. That to me isn't moving backwards. MikeO
