So specialists in Liverpool aren't good enough?

I expect the team has its preferred doctors. In the U.S. there are specific sports doctors thought to be the best in various areas and teams will send their players across the country to be seen by them if need be

Yeah but Liverpool has a great University for medicine and teaching hospitals so it irks me when players have 'to go to London'.

Depends what it is. I’m sure clubs have relationships with doctors they trust. If it’s something specific ( knee, ankle, whatever) there will be people who are at the top of that field and I’m sure a team would want to send their player there.

There is a doctor in the States who is famous for doing “Tommy John” surgery for baseball pitchers. Basically his whole business.

Hopefully just fab hysteria. If so though you’d have to say a lack of durability is becoming a trait for him.

Can “sicknote” mean either of 2 things: a person who’s injured a lot or one who uses any minor nick to lay out?  Does either connotation apply to DCL?

No reason to believe he’d embellish anything, especially after the disappointment of last season.

I don't think he'd be going to London (i.e. to see a specialist) if it wasn't thought to be something major to be honest.

Even without his injury we badly needed to sign a striker this summer. If it does turn out to be something serious then we need someone capable of leading the line for a long period of time. Thelwell has got his hands full now (if he didn't already!).

There was always a danger of this type of injury returning.
I’m not saying it is his quads but silence is not golden in this situation it’s just a pity we didn’t cash in while he was fit.
I can’t believe the medical staff never got together over this we are talking millions loss.
if it turns out to be the same injury we will have a part time player similar to Mina.

Getting a striker in might just become the new priority. Better happening this week than in a months time when the window is shut.

Stick Alli up front and see how he gets on - doesn't sound like we have much choice at the weekend.

Broja to me should become our top target if indeed he is out for months.

Where did this "Ali up front" mantra come from. I've never ever considered him capable of leading the line. A central support role - absolutely - but leading the line....that's asking a lot.

I'd love to see some details on our loan agreements for young attacking players  - are they paying 100% of the wages, can they be recalled from loan?

He seems to have scoring instinct, would still rather him than rondon.

I’m not disagreeing with you but can you imagine how Rondon would feel in that situation? Its like Pickford getting injured and putting Coleman in goal ahead of Begovic.

Rondon is banned after his red card last season.  Apart from that he is a player who should be doing last 20 minutes or whatever, not a full 90 minutes only option.

If they were good enough they wouldn’t be going out on loan.  We need proven goals.

He played up front in some of preseason.

Hardly a 'mantra' but with no DCL or Rondon this weekend, so this weekend a bit limited on senior out and out strikers - i.e there is none!!. May as well try Alli against Cheslea and see how he gets on. At least we will know a bit more afterward if he is an emergency option or a complete dead loss. After DCL and Rondon, who else do you stick there as our goal threat on the weekend?

Yes, I realise that but DCL looks like he may be missing more than one match. Unless we register a new striker by midday tomorrow then we have to go with what we have v Chelsea - minus Rondon as you rightly say.

We need a bonafide striker… plus a player like Dennis so in a worse case scenario we have have someone who can at least work the back line like Richarlison did for us. That’s where Dennis will be a good signing.
