Never in my life can I recall a club playing 75% of a season without a recognised striker. Let alone a club with so few goals from midfield.

if we manage to get over the line then we must demand and drive the exits required at the top. I’m absolutely dumbfounded at how shit the people who run our club are.

disgraceful.  If we had DCL fit for Bournemouth I wouldn’t feel half as nervous as I am.

Maupay had a good track record with Brighton. For sure, he’s contributed little at Everton, but that doesn’t mean he’s lacking in ability. As always, players excel when we leverage their strengths. Having said that, I would prefer Gray or Simms to start.

He had a good track record in the championship. In the prem nothing much doing at all

Crucial must win last game is not the time to take another chance with Maupay.

20-21, 32 games and 8 goals with 2 assists, 21-22, 33 games 8 goals and 2 assists, both seasons pretty much the same 1 goal every 4 games, and 1 assist every 16 games. Not what many would consider a good track record imo.

I agree, 26 goals over three PL seasons at Brighton for someone who's not an outright number nine is a decent return, 'specially in a team finishing 15th, 16th and 9th.

We plainly don't play to his strengths but that doesn't mean he hasn't got any.

He stated that he "can play out wide or as a number 10, but my favoured position is striker. I like to play down the middle and use my pace to get in behind defences" and "I'm used to looking after the ball and holding off defenders".[6

I’ve not seen any of that from him. Pace? None. Look after the ball? None.

He scored most of his goals in the championship. 10 is his record in the prem as a striker for Brighton when they were scoring goals - put into context Dwight mcneil has 7 from left mid for us.

His favoured position is obviously not his best one.

When Brighton were scoring goals? 121 over three seasons so just a smidge over one goal per game, not exactly prolific.

McNeil has 14 PL goals in 169 career games, Maupay 27 in 129; I'm not talking purely about contibutions to us this season but value/strike rate over a career.

It's also not a "nothing at all in the prem".

Barring one season DCL hasn't done much better than one in 3 in any season.

I'm not a maupay supporter, I don't want him in the team because clearly it's not worked, but to say "he's done nothing" is a touch exaggerated.

Show me where I said he’s done nothing I said it’s not good imo. There are plenty of midfielders with more impressive stats than his, if good was ranked as B he’s a D below average.

He scored 10 in a season for brighton. That’s his best, Brighton scored 39 goals.  Admittedly they weren’t scoring goals. But 1 in 4 ratio as main striker.

Dwight mcneil - a player who isn’t a striker, far less prolific career wise, has 7 for us of our 33 goals from the wing.

my point being, maupay hasn’t done his job.  As you will know I’m not one to judge strikers purely on goals, but he has been absolutely abysmal from a contribution perspective

I do not want to see him start on Sunday, I genuinely think he’s one of the worst I’ve witnessed

When Lampard brought Maupay in he bought him to score goals, the only other striker/forward in the team was DCL with a long term injury, I refuse to believe he was bought for any other reason than to get goals. So on the basis he hasn’t delivered how can he be classed as good his average returns for Brighton show that, he wasn’t a success before he came here and he has managed to drop even further since joining us.

Maupay may be a striker, but he’s not a lone striker. For him to be effective he needs to be in a partnership.

I’m not going to argue with that it isn’t worth it, just to say why did Everton buy him when they had no other available strikers to partner him, and why did Lampard and now Dyche play him in that lone role.

So why did we sign him? I don’t get it. We needed a wide man/goal scorer. We didn’t play 442 with lampard.

just a mess

Scored in the Premier League? Check.

Available? Check.

No thought whatsoever given to if he actually fits how we/the manager want us to play. We're a rotten football club.

I’ve sat through hours of watching baz and Andy the talent scout on toffeetv…. The names I’ve seen pulled out. Saliba, leao, but no, we have to buy off casts
