A manager who can only manage his own players simply isn’t a good manager.
Managers like Pep for example have gone from club to club and had success. And it was Pep who flippantly tossed the comment… “I have a people to sort that out for me” when asked about transfers.
We need a manager now who can come in, and get the best out of the players we already have. Concentrate on managing the team, and let others do their jobs.
Managers like Moyes are a thing of the past.

Frankly, I don't think Brands has been given sole decision-making power, and IMO he should be. He should be making the recruitment decisions, not the manager. It's the role of the manager to get the best use of them. If this isn't the case, then ask Brands to leave because his role is superfluous.
And why is that? Because, if managers make decisions, the club changes its fundamental strategy whenever a manager leaves or is fired, and we've seen the results of that. If the DoF calls the shots, a change in manager should not have a big impact.

Would still prefer Aarons, but would be very happy with this.

Just noticed this - Bryan Small is a lovely bloke. He’s a primary age youth coach for Villa - used to come to my school a few years ago to train the kids. I wasn’t aware of the relation.

It is weird Donnarumma got player of the tournament over Jordan. They both saved 2 penalties in the final, Jordan let in less goals and had more clean sheets. The fact Italy won shouldn't really come into it.

He’s had a brilliant tournament, really surprised he didn’t win the player of the tournament having only conceded 2 goals in open play. He even had the pundits praising him on BBC, didn’t watch ITV coverage so I’ve no idea if Lee Dixon still has his head up his arse over Pickford.

Southgate has rightly been praised for getting his decision-making right throughout this tournament but tonight he fucked up in numerous ways, and he deserves a hell of a lot of stick for it.
He shit the bed after we went 1 up. He needed to get the useless Mount off way earlier than he did and Grealish should have been on a lot earlier too, he should have been the first sub without a doubt. Then he brings two players on that have barely had any minutes during the tournament for the express purpose of scoring their penalties - that is putting an extreme amount of pressure on them. To me that is shocking management. Yes, they were terrible penalties but I don't think they should have been put in that position in the first place. And to allow Saka to have the last penalty is all wrong as well. I don't care if he offered to take that penalty, you do not put that on him. He'd been awful since coming on as well, so his head won't have been anywhere near where it needed to be. An experienced player needed to be on that one without a doubt. He was absolutely devastated and that will be with him forever.
Kane was terrible again, he spent the night making it look like he was trying to win headers when in reality he was just faking it. His goals in the past couple of games have masked an awful tournament for him - he was kept on because the manager was embarrassingly playing for penalties.
I am so proud of Jordan Pickford though. He's been immense and is a credit to himself and Everton Football Club. He can hold his head up high - brilliant throughout the tournament but particularly tonight. Did everything he could've done to stop their goal in normal time and it's the defence around him that were at fault for the goal. Then he was brilliant in the shootout - the pressure he was under for Jorginho's penalty must have been huge but he stepped up big time.

I think it looks like a training top, and I'm not sure if I like it or not to be honest.

Everything turns on those 3/4 having pace and power. Speaking of which, Coutinho has neither, so can we please bin this nonsense?

Very rare for managers to be involved in transfers in Italy. More likely the director of football picked them.
More miss than hit at Liverpool and Newcastle. Wouldn't include Alonso considering Rafa wanted rid of him. Didn't know how use a classy player and wanted him replaced with Barry. Better manager would have wanted both.
He'd rather a hard worker play out of position like Kuyt than manage a better player to work harder.

If the money was spent well I think we'd come out of it in a positive position.

Newcastle only scored more than 2 goals in a game once under him (against us, more telling about Silva).

“Please – no more X-Liverpool players telling Evertonians how lucky they are to have Benitez at Goodison,” wrote Keys. “No they’re not. Most don’t want him.
“The majority will tolerate him, but they don’t want lectures on how they should be feeling from across Stanley Park.
“It will end in tears. It always does with Benitez.”

I think they've shit the bed and gone with a manager they know won't walk away from us like Ancelotti did.
I'm thinking we've got him for at least two years until Brands has got the squad built.
