johnh
Congratulations Mark. My two daughters took me out to a birthday lunch on Sunday. One is 46, the other 47 but they are still 'my little girls'. Mark, for a father, daughters are very special, take good care of her. markjazzbassist

MikeO
Getting close to settling my mum's estate (apart from the sale of her house) so coming into a bit of cash in the not too distant future so going to upgrade the car. I've just about persuaded myself and (more importantly) the wife that one of these is a good idea . http://www.keywisecarsltd.co.uk/used-cars/audi-a3-cabriolet-1-6-tdi-s-line-2dr-rewe-201701251643284 (That's the dealer where I bought my last car which has been a great buy so I'd be happy going back) Some might call it a mid life crisis perhaps but I'm too old for one of those . markjazzbassist

MikeO
I love the A3. Amazed to discover that (compared to my perfectly decent Peugeot 307 1.6) the insurance would actually be a little cheaper, the tax would be £30 a year instead of £20 a month and the economy is massively superior. can't take it to the grave with you mike, you might as well spend it. no fault in that. maybe give some to the kids to help them out, but fancy cars, caviar, 50 dollar bottles of wine every night! live it up! oh yeah you're scotch guy i think, laphroig for breakfast lunch and dinner Give money to the kids? Have you been taking drugs MJB, what a strange notion . Mistaken identity on the Scotch though, used to like the occasional single malt but gave up spirits (the occasional Metaxa in Greece apart) many years ago. rubecula and markjazzbassist

Matt
My uncle surprised me with a set of small crystal whiskey glasses. He'd heard me go on about my mums set for years, saw and opportunity and got 6 glasses. Beautiful things, very heavy for their size. johnh
In 1991 I was on a Golf day with Citroen. Everyone got a crystal whisky glass as a memento. Still use mine for my nightly dram. Not Laphroig Mark, too peaty for me. Currently drinking Springbank single malt - Campbeltown Distillery. Can recommend it. markjazzbassist

Made up About fifty years ago my dad got given six beautiful cut glass wine glasses by Jimmy Young ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Young_(broadcaster)for those under a certain age), really heavy and only came out on special occasions. By the time mum died in January there were just two left unbroken so me and my brother had one each, I love it but never use it.
