Vs Villa (Home)

going to be a interesting game.

Arsenal was top of the league side and Dyche's first game and Leeds was bottom of the table relegation battle. Two hyped games for very different reasons. This game feels a bit more like your routine 'bread and butter' type game and how we get on might give us a little more insight in to what the rest of our season might be like.

I would like to hope that the players go in with a work like attitude similar to what we have seen in both the Arsenal and Leeds game, even though the hype of spotlight might be as glaring.

Results can go against you in any given game - I am just hoping to see the level of effort we have seen so far in the home games. What I don't to see is the end of any new manager bounce back or any lesser effort than what should be the new norm.

Big game this one, definitely a chance to get 3 points as well.

Iwobi on the right is going to be crucial in getting back and helping out Coleman as either Moreno/Digne will be bombing forward all game - its the space that we need to look to get in behind as well. Same team as Leeds preferably just hopefully we put away some open field chances & another clean sheet.

  • Everton have lost their past two home league games against Aston Villa, as many as in their previous 16 at Goodison Park (W7 D7). They've never lost three in a row at home against them in their league history.

  • Since their return to the Premier League in 2019, Aston Villa are unbeaten in all seven of their meetings with Everton (W5 D2), winning the past three in a row. They last won four consecutively against the Toffees between September 1996 and March 1998.

  • Sean Dyche is looking to become the fifth permanent Everton manager to win each of his first three home league games in charge of the club, after William Edward Barclay (1888), Dick Molyneux (1889), Harry Catterick (1961) and Rafael Benitez (2021). Dyche could be the first to do so without conceding.

  • No side has scored (nine) or conceded (nine) more goals in the opening 15 minutes of Premier League games this season than Aston Villa. Their nine goals in this time period is three more than Everton have netted in the first half overall this term (six).

While we're wildly inconsistent every game is going to be big. Get some consistency going and pick up a few results in a row and the pressure will lessen on a game to game basis.

Lets see if we can do it.

I’m hoping Patterson and Garner are able to be in the squad. It will be a shot in the arm. Surely Dom has had his mattress, car seat, sexual positions and wisdom teeth looked at by now?
