Completely out of the blue, and largely unrealistic, but would anyone go for Bale since he’s being forced out of Real? Just curious

Ability wise, of course, but the fact that he’s on £400k a week or whatever kills even the 0.0001% we’d have of signing him. It’s beyond even a pipe dream!

The reason for asking is because of this reoccurring age and sell on value nonsense.

Plus, you never know. He might be happy with the fortune he’s made and fancy being the star player somewhere.

Not worth the risk, his main asset is his pace and now that will be on the decline. He was great at breaking down the smaller teams but any competent right back could handle him, Phil Neville easily had him in his pocket as did most of the top half teams, well top 8 (usual 6 plus Everton and WBA at the time). Remember when I looked a few years ago the only one he done well against was Arsenal which tended to be open games.

Bale is only good against poor sides. Only has a decent record against Arsenal probably helped by it being the most open game in the Prem.

v Man U 11 games 3 assists 1 goal.

v Man City 8 games 1 assist 2 goals.

v Chelsea 8 games 1 assist 2 goals.

v Arsenal 10 games 1 assist 5 goals.

v Everton 9 games 1 assist 0 goals.

v Liverpool 9 games 3 assists 1 goal 2 own-goals.

v WBA 9 games 2 assists 1 goal.

Just found my old post. Bale only got a single assist and no goals against us in 9 games.

He scored some goals in massive games for club and country. He almost singlehandedly qualified Wales for Euro 2016 with the weight of a action on his shoulders and had a very good tournament. Man of the match in the champions league final 2018 and put away a pressure penalty in the shootout on 2016. Not sure you can say he only plays well against smaller teams.

No he’s always injured and he’s not worth anything near what he’s paid.

Apparently he was fit for over 70% of the games last season (according to his agent, so pinch of salt) he just didn’t get picked.

If he could play in 70% of our games I think he would make a huge difference. Couldn’t keep paying him at that level though.

Origi come on and scored in a champions league final this year. One goal doesn't mean he's good enough. I didn't say Bale never scores, just that competent right backs have the better of him. That final he was against TAA, hardly known for his defensive ability.

With all the talk about Zaha, would we not be better doing a better deal with Juve for Kean, and see if we can get Dybala on a 2 year loan? Offering Juve the £100m rather than £40 for Kean and £60 off for Zaha would make me much happier.

I’d also take a gamble on Alves for a year

There is a link on Sky for this but couldnt be arsed to start a thread. Lemina is being touted from Southampton. I havent seen much of him, maybe one game. He looked decent but not enough to form a solid opinion but my Soton supporting mate says he is the best footballer at the club and could see him playing for a much better side. He also said the price is a snip.

I think he had a falling out with Hughes though and was injured most of last season.
