markjazzbassist
Should've gone last season. Look, no one really doubts his potential impact on the team; we don't really have another player like him. But for 60k a week to sit on the bench, it's time to say thanks and good luck to him yeah i was really hoping when he was linked to moyes at sociedad he would have left. oh well, another year in the bleachers watching the team and he'll be off in a year's time. For a trained physio Martinez is a bit of an idiot when it comes to returning players. Elston Gunnn

I'll be honest, I was expecting to read he got injured playing again for the u21s

JoeQuince
When Patto said he played 45 minutes I was going to reply, "did he have to come off due to injury?" Sadly, this was my first thought when I saw that as well.
MC11
If we can get 45 out of him I'd be happy. We'd be much further up the league if we had a fit pienaar
Guest Howard's way
Naaar, he had plenty of chances to prove himself before the last injury. I'm kind of sick of seeing him fall over the ball to get the foul just because he turned back due to lack of speed and run into a hole. He will always have a great brain but this league kills you if your off the pace. Sorry to say he hasn't got it anymore.
Romey 1878
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-midfielder-steven-pienaar-closing-10614704 He's practically been out for two years now and is the wrong side of thirty, so I don't think there's much more we can squeeze out of him. Shame really because the Pienaar of 3 or 4 years ago would've been perfect in this side. Matt

Loved to be proved wrong, but I think everything's against him at present.
Blue 250
At his best, he would have been the first name on the team sheet ( for me ). Clever player who's link up play with Baines was as good as any partnership I've ever seen. Every team needs a player like he or Osman to get by the parked bus, shame both players are past their best. In his prime, I wouldn't have hesitated to start him
pete0
Should never have bought him back, best spell was his loan. His fee plus wages have been an absolute waste. Disloyal money grabber and we took him back, Moyes dropped a clanger buying him back.

MikeO
He's only thirty-three, never been a player who relied on pace so no issue there; personally think he still may have something to offer. We shall see.

MikeO
to be honest, his pace isn't the issue. It's being on big wages and showing no sign of ever getting fit Except he's now showing signs of getting fit .
Deacs
Except he's now showing signs of getting fit . Again. The same has been said repeatedly for two years now. Great player in his day but done I'm afraid.
Sideliner
football is a profession - in any other profession you will not be earning big fees if you can not produce the goods - in the end it is a business decision - a promising young player can be carried for a while but not an expensive old one - Pienaar must come to the party or go home Tough for me as S african to say - but business is business same applies to Gibson and Osman - unfortunately we all have a sell by date
Matt
Except he's now showing signs of getting fit . ill believe it when he's played 90 mins, he's done this too often.
Btay
I still think he is the closest we have to that silva/mate type player. I hope he still has a bit to offer but regardless of what happens he has contributed alot to the club minus the Tottenham saga. MC11
Fit for weekend. Looks like he'll be in squad for Dag & Red at weekend. Fingers crossed he can get some game time. I'd absolutely love it if we could get him back in the first team! Can't see it though Matt and duncanmckenzieismagic

As much as I'd love him back your right, slowly, slowly. He/his partnership with Baines will never reach the levels they were, but we can dream. Hafnia
I don't consider him a squad member any more - sadly. 33 and had some time consuming injuries. Great player in his prime. Btay, Lowensda, Romey 1878 and 1 other
