Lowensda
Being very cynical, but do you think this deal was rushed through to appease fans, knowing that there may be little, to no activity in the window?

Before the end of the window you mean, the window has been quite productive

Romey 1878
Doubt it, Ten, there's been talk of this contract for a little while and that it was just his agent situation holding things up. Matt
Sibdane
Happy to see this go through. We have some exciting potential talent for the future.
duncanmckenzieismagic
Being very cynical, but do you think this deal was rushed through to appease fans, knowing that there may be little, to no activity in the window? Weve spent over £30M so I wouldn't really say there had been little or no activity anyway
Gwlad
Absolutely brilliant. What Roberto Martinez has done is amazing. New contracts for Baines, Coleman, Barkley, and Stones. Bringing in Lukaku and Besic. Getting Galloway and (eventually) Henen for the future. This club is in a very good state. Only fair to include Barry in this too. duncanmckenzieismagic
Like Matt pointed out, I meant from now going forward. Yeah sorry read that after I had posted my comment. Either way though even if we don't make anymore signings I don't think many fans would need appeasing as its already been a very good transfer window for us
thoward18
It's time for him to get his chance. Six goals in only 225 minutes already. Jagielka is not performing right now.
Matt
I'm goin to get serious angry with Martinez if Stones doesn't get his place back
Romey 1878
Jagielka was still sleeping while today's game was going on.
Newty82
Yep. Stones needs a chance. Jags needs to be 'rested' for a bit.

Lowensda
Jags was dire today. Positioning was poor. Decision making was wrong. His passes were woeful. Pace has gone! Matt
J*A*C*K*E*L*Z
Would love to see stones back in the team... Id drop either one of them two dafties that played at the back today They need to realise that nobody can just take their place for granted
gy-blues
In all fairness I don't think Distin did too much wrong, wasn't brilliant but was having to play next to Jags who had his worst game I have seen in an Everton shirt. Think Stones is a better partner for Distin than Jags but really can't see Martinez, the type of manager he is dropping Jags. Would be too much like blaming him for the six let in and Martinez for me is all about building Morale and team spirit. Matt
Matt
I'm not against stones having his chance but he needs to be told about his besic like mistakes. Sorry, I have no idea what you are talking about here. What "Besic" like mistakes has he made?
Matt
he gave 2 very similar goals away pre season trying to dribble past an attacker when he was the last man. Ok, but that was preseason and Besic wasn't trying to dribble past anyone. I just don't get the Besic reference at all. Or do you mean Stones was trying to be too clever? If thats what you mean I agree somewhat, but all players will do that especially when they're young.
seve
I THINK YOU HAVE GOT TO GIVE STONES A CHANCE BUT IT NEEDS TO BE WITH SOME ONE IN FORM TO LOOK AFTER HIM, AT THE MOMENT IF HE PLAYED WITH EITHER OF OUR CBs IT COULD DESTROY HIM. Bailey
I wouldnt hold Stones' preseason against him. One of the times he was caught in possession was due to a shocking pass leaving him very little options. He is normally much sharper than that and whilst he will make the odd mistakes, Jags is making more than that at the moment and his place in the team isnt justified. It's difficult for Martinez due to Jags being the captain but he needs to make a change and at the very least let Jags get his shit together. chicagoblue
Right back for England for start tonight. Do not understand. Stones is not a right back. Is he really the best (after Walker/Johnson) England have in that position?
