I'm not someone who is that bothered by 'tradition' as I fully accept that things move on and have to change. That's life, and by nature we evolve. But I support the club. Everything else is secondary. Bit late, but that's my 5p worth!!! Absolutely. Last seasons badge grew on me. New one looks out of proportion. Daft over reaction to it when it first came out imo; I was happy with it from the start. New one is infinitely worse, though I'll get used to it I guess. I always believed that the noise was more about the fake consultation and Elstone and the board. Noise was made and the bandwagon got rolling. By trying to include what the fans wanted, we've kind of gone backwards with it. But heyho, so long as the club exists then I'm happy. I think after the big mess up they were committed to change, they were never going back. IMO some of the arguments for change were fine, like the fade in the centre of the badge. But they could have just made it more mono rather than change the whole thing. I don't actually remember what the one I voted for looks like, but I'm happy with the new one. I just want it on everything now, so we can forget the whole thing happened and just move on. Completely dreadful, hopelessly dated and a big step backwards; I much preferred the hugely derided one last year. Realise this will be a big time minority opinion but it's just horrible for me. Just looks to me like someone has gone shape (check), tower (check), motto (check), wreathes (check), name & date (check & check) and drawn a rough draught; then thought, that'll do. This season's badge is better than last season's, but only by a small margin. I'm not really a fan of the badge shape -- a more modern outline would be great. Yes you go get used to it but IMO its very commercialised and pretty much any idiot with a glorified clip art could have come up with. Maybe its just me but I would like to think that the designers we pay for these types of things could actually come up with some original ideas rather than copy other what other clubs have already done but just adding the aspects you have mentioned above. This years one I think looks out of proportion. Too much crammed in. Bandwagon? I was made up there was a way of communicating how utterly amateurish that attempt was, I was fuming! Shield was bulbous and disfigured, dropping the NSNO (wasnt too fussed about the wreaths) was an unbelievable decision. I refused to buy anything with it on. The petition allowed a channel of communication for a valid reason. Maybe some did just jump on the bandwagon because their mates asked them to. I signed up because I saw it as an embarrassment (not just in design, but the whole way it was communicated - "We've extensively researched..." etc) I had the same reaction as you to this years one, but its at least respecting the older badge in terms of shape and content. The fact that all they did was slightly change the scroll, shrink the tower and move it up, then stick the name and year definitely makes it look more busy.
