Succeess got abuse because of his play acting and his antics, it’s got nothing to do with his colour

Just been analysing our previous results (night shifts are getting the better of me!) and was looking at our away form.

I think at a glance it looks quite questionable - but I've had a go at dissecting it and seeing if it really is all that bad after all.

  • Wolves 2 - 2 Everton
  • Bournemouth 2 - 2 Everton
  • Arsenal 2 - 0 Everton
  • Leicester 1 - 2 Everton
  • Man U 2 - 1 Everton
  • Chelsea 0 - 0 Everton
  • Liverpool 1 - 0 Everton
  • Man City 3 - 1 Everton
  • Burnley 1 - 5 Everton

Wolves 2 - 2 Everton

Let’s start with Wolves. Newly promoted sides are notorious for causing trouble on the opening day of the season, and Wolves seemed to have followed that up with some huge results so far this season. We came into this game off the back of a slightly edgy pre-season, with a new manager and new philosophies to learn. Plus let’s not forget Baines, Jagielka, Schneiderlin and Tosun all started this game - a very different squad to what we are used to seeing more recently. 2-2 wasn't an ideal result, but nonetheless hardly unacceptable on the road.

Bournmouth 2 - 2 Everton

A funny game. Richarlison managed to get sent off for next to nothing - and then we went 2 up with a goal either side of Smith's dismissal - to only go and let it slip. I think if we played this fixture more recently it would have been 3 points in the bag. Baines, Holgate, Davies and Tosun all featured - which includes a defence more than capable of conceding two goals with a bit of pressure put onto it.

Leicester 1 - 2 Everton

A deserved win where our attacking players really stood out. Morgan's red card made it that bit easier for us, however Richarlison ran him ragged the duration he was on the pitch. Our first 3 points on the road and convincingly.

The Top 6

I won’t dissect these games too much. We went to Arsenal and created chances and on another day it could have been a different story. With Gomes and Coleman fit it could have been different on the day - but in some way a promising display. Same goes for the United game, we created chances but struggled to take them.

The Chelsea game was a hard earned point and a deserved one too. Neither side deserved to win and we shut them out pretty well.

The Liverpool game...the less said about that the better.

The City game was a deserved loss with some moments where we looked threatening and challenged well.

Spurs at 2-0 with the disallowed goal could have been a different game - then we soon fell apart and was outclassed.

Burnley 1 - 5 Everton

This takes us to our second away win of the season. All those missed chances in previous games seemed to all come at once. A strong performance with a result to match it. Burnley are struggling this season but to win in the manner that we did away from home shows the ability we have and hopefully we can continue this form on the road with a fixture list which is much more forgiving.

Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, City - We have faced 5 of the top 6 away from home in our first 9 away matches. Admittedly it would have been nice to get more than a point in those 5 games - but the reverse fixtures should promise something more than that return along with away games against the weaker teams in the league. However we've got the worst fixtures out of the way early - only Spurs to face away now on last game of the season, to which hopefully the players will be up for revenge and will have learnt and thing or two by then. To put it into perspective if we can just have won 2 more of those games we would be sitting 6th right now 5 points behind Arsenal.

We have a really kind fixture list this second half of the season and with a bit of consistency can now aim to push the top 6 – hopefully with a new striker in the mix. The hard part is done now, onwards and upwards blues.
