Considering we have no LB/wingback cover then this seems sensible. Doesn't get the pulses racing, but seems cheap enough in this day and age.

just reading about him, he seem to have pace, likes to run at players and can cross -  could be decent back up and competition for Mykolenko and would be good to have cover if attacking wingbacks is going to be our style of play.

True but Neilas can't play left back for us, even as back up. He is never premier league quality.

I think if anything happened to Mykolenko injury wise, then with no specialist cover at all, so could get caught with our pants down in LB, wingback position. Will also be good to be able to rest Mykolenko for cup games etc

Right is covered by Coleman and even Iwobi to an extent. Looks a relative cheap option with wages (if £680,000) not really much great than those Kenny was likely to be on. Other than him taking a up a loan space, I doubt this cost will impact other incomings to much.

I still like Nkounkou, but if he can get a loan and we have this guy to cover then no issue.

Crying out for midfielders, and have been for a good while, so lets get a LB before the season starts and leave the important signings until we've already played a few games.

I think he will be a good addition if we get him if the terms that’s doing the rounds are true 16k a week you won’t get a championship player for that and we aren’t obligated to buy him.

Don't take much working out does it signed nobody and everyone we are linked to seems to be got to be done in installments. If we had any money and we wanted Cornett we would have met his release fee

This is why we need to use loan and obligation to buy ect. It’s a way of getting signings in but not impacting finances until next year.

But you are limited on number of loans so using one on position we have seems crazy

Everyone wants attacking players and midfield reinforcements but we also need back-up for Mykolenko - if Nkounkou was deemed good enough, we wouldn’t be chasing this deal - so this deal makes a lot of sense. It’s a sensibly low cost deal for a player our DoF knows already and fits the likely preferred system - he’s meant to be a good character too. This deal is not at the expense of Richarlison replacements, attacking reinforcements or midfield stability- plain and simple, it’s just a sensible bit of essential business.

He's still only young same age as Baines when we brought him back.

When he played at Goodison which was 2yrs ago he looked decent so I'm happy with this deal if it comes off.

I don’t think it’s because it’s priority as such but one that’s been easier to get done.  I assume they will also know if they have more to spend if they get him in, nkounkou is not an option so we deffo need a left back. 
 

my guess is that once they know left back is covered on a zero fee then it frees us up to get others on a set budget.

We don’t have any cover if mykolenko gets injured. Nkounkou isn’t an option, defensively he’s not ready.  So Godfrey would need to shift over and if one of the centre halves get injured then we are in trouble.

I think Winks is nailed on for a loan with an option I think this waiting to buy is about saving money on wages.

Another thing to consider on this - it’s clearly a signing chosen by our director of football - surely that’s who we want in charge of signings.

Signing a backup left back has little bearing on our other deals. It’s not like other negotiations stop until this is done. We can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Option to buy. Obligations are not good for us.

He was quite young then. Experience in the league and in Europe at a position we need cover for at a very low price seems like good business to me. He just needs to be decent when called upon.
