Isaiah reacted to Romey 1878 in Manchester City (H) 14th May
I'm far from disheartened by today's game, quite the opposite if I'm honest.
Until they scored the first goal we looked the more likely side to score. I thought we pressed really well and won the ball back in some dangerous areas, if we'd used the ball better and made some better decisions we could have been ahead. In fact, just before they scored we had an amazing chance that Holgate (I think) ballooned over the bar.
Then we were undone with a moment of brilliance, we switch off after that and concede the second goal and that's all she wrote. It knocked the stuffing out of us for the rest of the half and before we know it Holgate has a brain fart at the start of the second half and heads the ball into the centre of the pitch and they race towards goal and Garner is forced to take their man out resulting in the free-kick that they scored from to kill the game off.
Then they just controlled the game until the end.
I don't like to say any game is a free hit because the aim should be to get something from all of them, but if ever it was apt it would be today. City are just on another fucking planet to us. A loss was always the most likely result.
I stayed right until the end of the game so I could applaud our players off because I appreciated the effort they'd put in today.
On to the next one.

Consecutive 90th minute goals (v Chelsea and Spurs no less). Fighting to the very end, great to see.

It comes down to this: we are more likely to score with Gray on the field than on the bench. He plays.

The infuriating thing is that we had the perfect opportunity to get bielsa, when we broke for World Cup. 6 weeks of working the players to a fitness level he requires.
shoddy

I haven't bothered to read through this thread because I know people will be going way overboard with the negativity.
I thought we played well in the first half and caused Fulham plenty of problems. We could have easily been ahead at the break, there was plenty of things to feel positive about.
Second half I'm as disappointed as anyone that we didn't kick on. I'm sure Lampard is too because the game was there for us, it really was. I think (subconsciously maybe) that us not getting ahead in the game meant that we felt more inclined to to sit in and hold on to what we had, rather than to continue to play in a positive manner.
I don't think we necessarily played badly in the second half, we just played without any tempo and in too much of a negative way. But the positive to take from it is that when faced under that sort of pressure last season we fold and lose it. instead, tonight we showed solidity and took a point from the game.
We're on a journey from utter shite, it was never going to be a huge leap this season. Incremental steps is what it was going to be and I'm going to be patient because I can see the progress we're making.

Isaiah got a reaction from MikeO in Alex Iwobi
Not sure how I feel about that. He still has 2 years to go and while he's been fantastic so far this season, there are many examples of players being rewarded with a new contract following a brief purple patch only for their form to then drop back off. I'd rather they started thinking about this at least midway through the season, not after 7 games.

This team with this manager is not getting relegated.

I can’t stand tokenism though, hate it. We were taking the knee whilst countries like Montenegro were allowed to monkey chant through 90 minutes. The authorities don’t punish hate properly but if someone doesn’t abide by gestures then they are ridiculed.

Isaiah reacted to Wiggytop in Ross Barkley
Definitely not a good move for us, we’ve just managed to move Dele on after throwing him a lifeline that he couldn’t grab hold of, no reason to think it would be any different with Ross.

One thing I hope our supporters realize is that he’s likely to need time. New country, new team, still 20. He’s gonna be a bit raw most likely. We are paying for him at 22-23 and beyond. Let’s give him the room to make a few mistakes and not lose the fans. Look what it’s done for Iwobi, by his own reckoning.

Iwobi. He's turning into the player Arsenal thought they had. Glad to see him continue his form from last season.

The title of this thread really came into its own the last page or two!
I'm not 'mocking' in any way the religion discussion but when I saw all the new posts, having been away for a while, I thought maybe we had some major Gana news. Instead I'm reading the transcript of a Richard Dawkins-Archbishop of Canterbury debate.
My own religious and moral worldview, for what it's worth, stems from that great spiritual leader, Mr George Carlin:
Thou shalt always be honest and faithful to the provider of thy nookie. Thou shalt try real hard not to kill anyone. Thou shalt keep thy religion to thyself.
Anyway, has Gana signed?
