Cornish Steve
The BBC cannot give Everton a compliment without it being back-handed, can they? Two Everton players make their team of the week, but Gueye isn't as good as Kante and they can't understand why Manchester United or City haven't lured Coleman away from Goodison Park. We're going to have to win the league three years in succession before they regard Everton as anything other than an also-ran. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/39098821 markjazzbassist
Romey 1878
Like most he was well before my time by all accounts an amazing player. Sure he's having a chat with a few of our other lost legends.
Bill
In 60 odd years of watching and following Everton, Alex Young is the player who gave me most pleasure. Sure I've said this before but he was adored by all the fans in his playing days, so much so that Harry Catterick was attacked for dropping him from the team to give Joe Doyle his Debut. All players of Efc are well remembered, but Alex will live on in the history books as one of the greats. R.I.P. London Blue
Before my time as well, but from what I have read he was a true great and a Evertonian. RIP Alex

Shukes
Seems better than the last three seasons to me. Always seems a massive part of that is Rom too. Great to see.

Strange that those two are seen as disruptions to team spirit to a lot of our fans. I think that's a big thing I have noticed this year. The guys labelled as trouble makers seem to be the ones playing pranks and lifts by team spirits. Look at the way players celebrate with Rom when he scores. What did you think about his views on Rooney, he's obviously if he plays going to take the place of someone else, but if he improves the team in what ever position he plays surly that's justification to play him, regardless of who's place he takes. I don't see a place for him in the starting XI if we have a fully fit squad personally, he'd be a decent option on the bench though.
pete0
Depends where you play him. Leave him in the box and he'll get 20 goals, but we'd be playing a man down. Play him deep and you lose his goal threat. Don't think he has the legs to play as a 10. Personally I'd have Rom do the running and leave Rooney in the box. However he has a tendency to drift back to get on to the ball.
Shukes
Play Rooney in midfield that's his best position ow.
MC11
Rooney is still a better 10 than Barkley.
StevO
He can play left of the front three, they all move all over the place anyway. For me that spot is up for grabs, Rom will always play and Ross is doing a great job on the right at the moment.
London Blue
Rooney is a luxury player, unbelievably talented his passing, ball control and finishing are world class. However his mobility is not as good and nowhere near what Koeman would demand of the rest of the team, and his stamina levels are not going to be anywhere near the required level. But what really annoys me is that his positional sense going forward is great, he can find space and knows where to be to hurt the opponent. But when he hasn't got the ball he gets dragged back almost to where DM's play which means he is not where we need him to be. I think the reality is if he comes he will be a bit part player similar to Barry in that he will start some games and come on to influence others. I'd agree with you Steve, he would also be a more natural support to Rom should we play 352 albeit that means someone else would lose out. Shy_Talk
Robles Coleman Holgate Williams Mori Baines Schneiderlin McCarthy Barkley Mirallas Lukaku I'm not on the pish-take, and it's only cos I was in another thread, but seasons MOTM winner Gueye omitted? Heavy duty call there. Fascinated to hear the Mira man reasoning instead of Bolasie.

Fascinated to hear the Mira man reasoning instead of Bolasie. Gueye stood out with his energy (and was rightly lauded for his impact), but since everyone has caught up to his fitness levels he's noticeably a class below. He set the bar high, and is now not living up to them. His closing down hid how bad his positioning is. Has a brain fart most games as well. That said, he's still a useful player, just not as good as I first thought. Mirallas has the stats and is more consistent than we give him credit for. He's a very dangerous player probs our most clinical. I think people still have a problem with him because of the penalty incident.

Half as clinical as you suggest the past two years would have buried that penalty incident. Gueye was a one man midfield at Villa, and something similar was initially expected here, we have some extra talent though now and he has to learn to specialise instead of being a one man band covering all he can in midfield. Time breeds trust, and so we go back to the pendulum and count it down.
MikeO
Not seen this posted anywhere although it's a few days old. Our video production/Everton TV has come on light years in recent times, used to be really amateurish but this is really slick!
