Hafnia
Agreed. He needs to replace Kone in the starting lineup. Maybe play kone in his proper position as striker and give Romelu a game on the bench. It usually does the trick.

It usually does the trick.it worked once and anyway, we still need goals and Kone doesn't provide that. Geri provides another attacking threat and link up play which makes much more sense to me. markjazzbassist
Agreed matt. Gerry Barkley Lennon Mirallas Fast counter attacking style with the attacking formation and we will kill teams with pace. All 4 can burn, would love to see that. Gerry Barkley Lennon Mirallas Fast counter attacking style with the attacking formation and we will kill teams with pace. All 4 can burn, would love to see that. id go with that, and I'd drop Rom too but with Mirallas probably suspended, I'd choose Naismith leading that line. Romey 1878
I really hope Roberto gives him a run of starts for us. I don't think he's a player that you see the best of when you rotate him. When you do that he tries too hard to make something happen every time he gets the ball, which invariably leads to him messing up due to wanting to impress and then he gets frustrated. He's not like a Lennon; an unspectacular player who can come in and out of the side and you know exactly what you'll get. Tell him he's in the side for the next month or whatever and I'm sure we'll see big things from him. markjazzbassist
Agreed. Kone and lukaku need benching so let's hope gerry is the starter from now on.
Hafnia
as per match thread, worth a go up front with his pace I think - one on one with a centre half it is penno/red card city... In the seasson ronaldo scored 40 goals I think he played as a hybrid winger/striker.

StevO
I think he at least needs to play on Monday. His frustration got the better of him last night, the goal, however lucky, will give him confidence too.
Romey 1878
scoring from a free kick is not lucky. When the keeper should have comfortably saved it it is. Matt
Shukes
I agree With Patto. Lucky is when a cross goes in, or you hot a shot off target and it deflects in. Whenever I got told that I hot a lucky shot my answer was simple.....I was trying to score...I got it on target and it went in..What's lucky about that? Romey 1878
The keeper more or less put it into the net. That makes it a lucky goal to me.
Romey 1878
yeah ok romey it was a lucky goal !! I'm glad to see you've found some sense and come round to my way of thinking.
StevO
if that keeper didnt have a stronger wrist (or wasnt Robertos old mate) it would have been round the post.
nyblue23
The keeper more or less put it into the net. That makes it a lucky goal to me. I don't think the keeper saw it over the wall, or else he was anticipating a deflection from the wall that never came. Either way, it was hit on target and with pace, so the late reaction from the keeper is a moot point. It took a bit of fortune to not be saved, but I agree it's not a lucky goal. No one who's ever posted in this forum could've hit that in any circumstance.

'Keeper would've been static (and probably soiled his pants at the speed of the shot).

London Blue
He put it in the right place and at speed, that's all you can ask, so from that point of view it was not lucky. Keeper did well to get a hand to it, and should have pushed it round the post but didn't. I just hope Deulofeu gets a start on Monday, he has earned it. Romey 1878
I'm sorry, but if Howard or Joel concede that goal we'd all be sat here furious saying he should have saved it, and that it was a poor bit of goalkeeping.

Deacs
Actually, I'd have had to stop for a water break on the run up . And then rested and refreshed you would have fired it into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. Just in time for a quick nap before the 2nd half MikeO
Elston Gunnn
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-boss-roberto-martinez-not-10136253The Echo article could be a little more specific re Barcelona's buy-back options, which apparently include a 9m (£6.64m) option at the end of the 2015-16 season, and a 12m (£8.85m) option at the end of the 2016-17 season. http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/transfers/everton-to-sign-barcelonas-gerard-deulofeu-for-e6m-on-a-3-year-deal-sport/ So Roberto may not fret that Deulofeu may not be here long-term, but I do, a little. This is an issue that Roberto will be asked about regularly if Deulofeu plays exciting football. I don't know, maybe no matter how creative his footballing, Deulofeu won't rise to Barcelona's standards. I guess every Everton fan should hope Deulofeu regularly starts, sometimes LW, sometimes RW, plays very well, exciting moves and excellent crosses, but just below Barcelona's otherworldly standards.
