Kohen
The simple fact of the matter is we lack any sort of real quality.
Haiku
Our team hasn't got the stamina to play 98 minutes. This goal was absolutely logical. We were poor most of the second half. Barkley was a disgrace to watch. Subbing Valencia and keeping Lennon and Barkley was a very stupid decision. Newty82
Fuck sake. Look forward to the day we play for a full 90 minutes. I haven't seen it for a while (and before anyone gets smart...even against Arsenal we did naff all for the first half hour!)
Cornish Steve
how was it his fault?! It was not Robles' fault at all - and he saved us minutes earlier with a fine save. Tiredness appeared to take its toll - plus a defence that still looks suspect.

nyblue23
Steaks went off and we just knew it, McCarthy was a massive loss Stek looked far more likely to concede and has all season. Robles couldn't have known much about Sturridge's low shot and did his best to get back; was far more alert than Williams and Funes Mori. That goal down completely to our CBs ball-watching. johnh
What's with this Martinez defence? We have to work our socks off to get to Liverpool's penalty area, yet we give them a free pass to get to ours. When they get possession we just drop off and let them play. They were always first to the second balls all game, including the goal. Mori had our best chance in the first-half, free header from the edge of the six yard box, should have scored. Aidan
Strange one. Hope comes out unscathed. He's brought him on in two games where effectively he's asking a striker to get onto a field a defend. He's making the player look stupid really. Hafnia
Baines needed to take a yellow card there on sturridge. Jockeyed him into a shooting position.

Haiku
We should acknowledge the Ref was on our side. Barkley should have been sent off for this tackle on Henderson.
Aidan
The weren't fitter, they were just better. They had us chasing the ball for 60 minutes of the game and we ran ourselves into the ground. Every time the ball went long we lost it because we were isolated. Valencia came off when in reality we should have gone 442 with him next to rom to face any real chance of winning that game. 1 striker up top means short football, 2 means long. Especially if your one striker can't hold up a ball

Newty82
As soon as Barry came on the game changed. The battle in midfield was lost. Deadly true. The midfield opened up for them. Henderson and Lallana came into the game more. Big gaps in the middle of the park. Sorry but Barry is not the man when we need to play, or play against, high pace pressing football. Bailey
How was the goal Robles fault? McCarthy getting injured was massive. We pretty much all said it and Barry was never involved. It's mad, if he comes on we have to change the way we play, have to, but we kept the same thing. I am really surprised that we used Ross that high up the pitch. He should have been deeper like he was again Arsenal not almost playing the Cahill role in a 442. The sub of Barry was an odd one in that we didn't change anything and the DCL sub was stranger. Mirallas will be spitting ffeathers and so will Gerry. DCL isn't a winger, he almost cost us the game against Arsenal when he was nervy. He did what he could when he came on but he was never getting us up the pitch. Sideliner

If people want to query my assertion that strikers need to retain the ball up front then this is why. You have seen what that ability has done to us. Beyond mentioning the obvious, I second this. The commentators were saying how much it'd help if the ball actually stuck up top. When we were under pressure like were were, it would have helped if we weren't dealing with attacks every few seconds.
Btay
I'm all honesty, you need things to go right in a derby, jimmy Mac off at half time is a huge blow to us, Barry should only have gotten 20 mins max in that game, losing a keeper is a waste of a sub especially given how hard our players worked. All in all the effort was there, legs went second half and I can understand it given the reasons above. Liverpool have been scoring for fun and their goal was a bit fortunate. It hurts now but if we play with that desire and application we will be okay.
Romey 1878
That game was gone as soon as McCarthy got injured. Barry never got into the game and based on the evidence of tonight he has played a large part in us having zero tempo this season. If we want to play a high intensity pressing game then Barry cannot be a part of it. Absolutely gutted here. We were fantastic in the first half but absolutely nowhere in the second half. chicagoblue and nyblue23
Blue 250
Is winning bets against Everton what makes you fan of this club? It's called business, the rs will nearlly always turn us over, I've won hundreds of pounds over the years on this game. Helps ease the pain, don't worry a fairy doesn't die when you bet against your own team, and the cash comes in handy. Isaiah
nogs
Well, dogs of war works against Arsenal, but that was shite. We've gone from a side who played some of the best football in the league but showed a criminal disregard for defending, to a team of lumpen long ball merchants who offer absolutely northing going forward. Why can't we find a happy median? That second half display was the performance of a side in a relegation scrap desperately trying to salvage a point from far superior opponents. Just rubbish in every way. Sent from my Fusion5 using Tapatalk
Bailey
Both Lukaku and Barkley ran hard all game so I am not having the rubbish from further up the thread that they didn't put in a shift. Neither did hold on to the ball well but neither did Origi. Difference is their midfield could hold onto the ball and rotate. We didn't play that way and we never were. Both of the lads did need to do better on the ball bur they were swarmed. It's bloody difficult to make things stick then you are immediately under pressure from 2 3 or 4 defenders. nyblue23
