He's an honest person who seems to have a close relationship with the players which is highly important for an individual in his position. He seems to rate DCL and Lookman quite highly from what he is saying - which coming from him is a huge compliment. As mark eluded to he seems to be our most valuable asset and with Silvas philosophy at the helm maybe in the next 4 or 5 seasons we can push toward being a real threat in the PL. We've had our blip of shite with Koeman, Walsh and Allerdyce - let's give this man time and let's properly get behind the club nomatter where we finish this season and nomattee how many thumpings we get along the way. The foundations are set with the squad of players we have, Pickford, Digne, a newly transformed Keane, Gomes, Siggy, Richarlison and Bernard would not look out of place in a top 6 team. A few more shrewd signings and we will look to be a very convincing side.
markjazzbassist
another nice looks at Brands. I love the way he talks about Lookman, RIcharlison and DCL as our future attack. Sounds like those 3 are the ones to build upon, which must be a boost to them as well.

Romey 1878
He needs to have another think if he (and Silva) are serious about us not bringing anyone in this January. Particularly a striker, because Richarlison is not the answer even until the summer. Matt and pete0

Honestly, I’d just persevere with DCL, give him his minutes and then judge in the summer if he can lead the line or not. This season is a true transition, so much stuff that needed undoing as well as rebuilding and we were always going to be mid table. Why not do experiment and risk developing the youngsters? I really don’t see what we lose from doing so this season

True, but that’s not the problem it once was. Besides, the alternative is spend at least 4 times what we’d lose position wise on a player(s) - not including everything that comes with that - that might not improve us at all. It makes more sense to me to give everyone their chance during the season and go for another, well planned, recruitment drive in the summer rather than over pay on a gamble mid season. I don’t think that means he’ll get his chance, more that if he’s on loan we only have one right back. Kenny is still miles away, even with Seamus being off form there is a gulf between them. duncanmckenzieismagic and markjazzbassist

I'd rather wait until the summer in order to sign the targets that we want than risk signing a flop in January just to gain a few more points for this season. Everybody calls for patience but when it gets down to it want's everything to happen all at once. We've introduced Digne, Mina, Zouma, Gomes, Bernard and Richarlison into the squad in the summer, they've played upwards of only 15 or so games so far this season. Lets allow this squad to gel, do some proper scouting, not panic and buy properly in the summer. Of course, I'd be happy with a signing this Jan, but it has to be a meticulous one. I'm confident we can achieve 7th with the current squad we have - and if we don't, then we regroup and go into next season with a strengthened squad and a proper pre-season.
