IF they have decided on Rafa and IF they were not to go ahead it is bowing to mob rule and intimidation. Would set a precedent whenever any club was making an unpopular appointment.

That’s how plenty of managers lose their jobs anyway.

It is possible to be against that banner and also still be against the appointment of Benitez. The two things are entirely separate. He doesn't become a decent manager simply because of an idiot's actions.

This!!

I haven’t got a problem with Benitez becoming manager I voted him as one of my top 5 but I will add not 1 or 2, I wanted him after and before Koeman, my problem with the selection of the manager is that it appears that the decision is going to be who Usmanov and Moshiri want, I find that strange that it isn’t Brand’s decision as DoF.
Money isn’t buying us success because the money men aren’t giving the football men control of the team.

I’ve got the same worry Palfy. But to add to it that anyone (owner and executives) who understood the club and the fans should also have known the backlash that would come from this. Any stick that Rafa gets will be down to the owners for making the appointment, especially after the Big Sam appointment. I always kept on to the idea that with billionaire owners Kenwright would be the man to keep the spirit of the club alive, as much as I have my issues with him. It feels like no one inside the club has any say apart from the owners.

I would like to think that no one with anything to do with our club would even consider that mate.

Sorry Newty mate, but its not, every club has a few assholes, and whoever put that banner up are sadly calling themselves Evertonians, even though they disgrace the club and its fans with actions like that.

I know its hard but we cant support these idiots by giving them cover like saying the board did it, you might as well say aliens did it.

I dont want him here, but if he is our manager I will support him and the team and the club, if / when he fails I will call for his sacking. We have to give him a chance, we have to. If we don;t it will affect our chance to sign players, team morale and our reputation, a split club is only going in one direction and thats backwards..

Too cynical Newty mate; this is Everton, not the Conservative party.

Lead balloon moment for me there...should have put the 🤣🤣🤣 in. Wasn't at all a serious suggestion. Just a cheeky comment. Still an emotional bunch eh...

What if the banner was put outside the right house and it was a legitimate threat for the people who live there? We’re all just very sensitive about Rafa at the moment that we assume it was for him? 🤔

Maybe, there were a few contentious applicants for the vacant post of head of the Merseyside auxiliary pillow fluffing organisation.

Could be for one of them....

Possible as there a few dodgy characters in the area ( like anywhere of course) timing seems a bit coincidental though.

🤣🤣🤣 Imagine that. Someone down at the local Tesco really doesn't want their best mate to move to Asda. That prank didn't go to plan.

On a more serious note, the banner has had the effect of more vocal support for Rafa. So whoever done it has helped his cause rather than be detrimental to it. Own goal.

Thank you for sharing. That was a very interesting read. I didn't realize that Liverpool had a relatively tight budget during Rafa's tenure. I actually feel like he did well when you factor in the fees. One or two big misses but everyone has those, and yes he missed on a ton of the 'cheap' signings but that is true for every manager/club. His transfer record certainly doesn't scare me away from him becoming our manager.

A bit more context and maybe one of the reasons Ashley wasnt keen on opening the cheque book.

Never ever ever the managers fault for the wages being paid to players. That is down entirely to the club hierarchy. In our case I trust Brands to hold serve and keep wages in check. As he did with all the players Carlo wanted.

Been quiet here just absorbing the conversation mainly because I don't know enough about managers to judge them prior to what we see on the pitch. Here's what I know:

  1. my brother is a huge Newcastle fan and he absolutely loves Rafa
  2. From my perspective we have been a soft team for far too long
  3. Many of our best players (DCL, Richarlison, Allan, and James) are going to be looking for a manager with a great CV. All for different reasons, mind you.
  4. The identity of the club will always matter most to me. Of course i want to win trophies but I will find another club if we lose our identity.

I support Rafa's appointment and I hope that with ownership's faith and a DoF in Brands this can be a job he can succeed in. Honestly I'm still most interested in how the hell we get rid of Iwobi, Siggy and Delph.

i doubt he lasts that long with us

I thought Rafa might be the one for us but given the vitriol over the couple of weeks I had my doubts. Now at this stage I just want to move on and let the guy prove what he has hopefully told the board as to how he can take our great club forward...... We have waited too long.

And so begins what will, I believe, be another shit chapter in our history. Hopefully it's one that doesn't last very long so I can feel connected to my club again.

I'll be spending the time he's here backing and supporting the team but I won't be backing or supporting him as the manager and I don't care what anyone thinks about that. I didn't for the gravy guzzler either and this appointment is just as bad, if not worse, for me.
