He isn't the quickest but if he can't beat his full back and get the cross in he does have a decent strike rate of winning a corner via a deflection off the full back. He has also got a decent shot with his left foot. I think my right foot is better than his though and I am 60 and have arthritis! I've said it all along, just play him on the left. That's where his positive aspects are best suited and his drawbacks can be hidden somewhat. Lampard playing him on the right quite clearly hit his confidence. Shukes
I do think he needs to go off though around the 65-70 min mark. He puts a lot of effort in for the first hour, but then just dies badly. Dyche is getting there best out of him. He is a completely different player to the one we saw before. duncanmckenzieismagic

You'll definitely get a few that cling to their judgements no matter what, but I do think the majority will give praise out and back a player no matter what their view has been. I didn't want us to sign him, I don't rate him, but it has never stopped me supporting him in the ground and has not stopped me seeing his positives. Romey 1878
I can't believe I forgot to comment in this thread after tonight's game. I think that's the best game I've ever seen him have. Certainly for us. Scored twice, made the own goal, was up and down the wing all night long helping out in attack and defence. He really couldn't have done any more. More of that please. He will 100% be an Everton fan favourite on this alone. Added some real quality to his play as well. Formby and KinL

Romey 1878
Even when he had an open goal he still used his left foot, rather than his right, to put the ball in the net even though it was easier to use his right foot . Popular Post RuffRob
after a nervous start, he is now beginning to look a good bit of business - we worried he wouldn't get goals, but so far this season his 7 goals have equaled the total he got at Burnley over 4 seasons. So no problem on this front. He does gets his head up and deliver quality balls in to dangerous areas, has a few assists - but we know this would be far higher if we had more attacking talent on the pitch. He is creating chances. Puts in the defensive shift needed by the top modern wingers - He has not had the greatest support by our left back this season either. Is doing the less glamorous part of the game. Not wanting to put a curse on him, but he has been available for selection and not on a treatment table. Considering we obtained £45M for an 18months younger Gordon - then in todays market a up to £20M for a 23 year old McNeil has to go down as a successful transfer. Hafnia
Simply put, there is one years difference between the two players. Mcneil has more intelligence, skill, work rate, finishing than Gordon. Gordon has pace and that’s about it. mcneil produced the stand out performance of any player I can recall in a long long time on Sunday.
